I am in a very similar situation. Credit cards and loans. Missed bills leading to payment arrangements. My credit rating is shot. But it's a relief. I have a home and mortgage which will do me well for the next 10 years.
I am grateful in one respect that I cannot get credit. I worry incase I need a new car or sofa or something. It's teaching me discipline and it's a better life then gambling. Plus I guess having no debt will save on interest over the years.
The debt is by far the worst thing in my life and it hurts me on a daily basis. I compare and look at my life with other people. I wish I had never did what I did. I pray that I will get thru this. I dunno if I will. I have nothing left every month. It's hard but I know it will come good one day.
