All, I just wanted to see what other people feel / think
I know it is very early days for me, but I do not think about gambling during the day to much, but when I come on line to give updates and look for help, I just can not stop thinking about gambling ??????
really not sure why, do others do this, or it is because I am talking about my gambling ?
Hi can i really,
I can understand exactly what you're saying. I haven't gambled since 2009 (except for two minor slips) and I stopped coming on the forum for that exact same reason you say. I got to a point where I didn't find it helpful to keep reading about other people's problems when I no longer felt I had an issue (still have plenty of problems mind, but just Gambling is not one of them anymore). So this is actually the first time I've stopped by the forum this year.
So my answer to you, is I guess it's what works for you and where you feel you are in your recovery.
Many people clearly feel they benefit from reading/posting on the forum, even if they haven't gambled in years, and don't seem to want to let it go, wanting to keep gambling in the forefront of their minds. (I don't understand that personally, but each to their own.) Others caught in the centre of the storm and finally admitting they have a problem find great help from realising they're not alone with this and the daily support/solidarity of others in the same situation is very beneficial.
Up to you.... Trial and error: just see what works best for you. Bare in mind that during the day, if you are busy, your brain is giving you diversionary tactics - you are focused on the daily task in front of your face. But in the evening when you have a chance to stop and think, or maybe even get bored, your brain will return to what it enjoys: gambling.
So long as you're not gambling, each day is a win.
Best wishes,
Molehole.

Hi Robert,
I don't really get what you're saying by your post, my friend, - are you trying to tell us in a polite 'therapeutic' way to 'shut the fu** up?' 😉

All I wanted to say was that I think more of gambling when I read some posts,
I understand there is a lot of help here and great support
For me at this time (day 3) it just brings gambling to the front of my mind
Affected by gambling?
