Hi everyone. I was feeling really pleased with myself and felt I was at last getting somewhere. I follow a streamer on You Tube. He is very concious about problem gambling and often talks about Gamstop. I found watching him helped me a lot and was pleased that I had no financial involvement. Yesterday someone in chat said they had registered with Gamstop but had found one that accepted him (I will not name it) and stupidly today registered with them and lost. I immediately self excluded. The thing is registering with Gamstop was excellent but I just wish there was not these loopholes x Good Luck everyone. I have to start again.

Hi Cassie, if that site that you’re talking about is UK licensed and claims to be using Gamstop, then it needs reporting.

I was reading the BBC News online this morning and there was an article about how flawed Gamstop and the whole self exclusion system was in general (both online and in shops).

In my opinion I think the whole Gamstop system isn’t fit for purpose (as it currently stands right now).

Firstly, I was amazed at how simple it was to sign up to. (Just giving my Name, Home address and email address). By that reckoning, I could sign anybody that I knew up to Gamstop and they wouldn’t be able to stop it.

I, myself, have not tried to circumvent the Gamstop system (I’ve not even tested it out to see if it works) because I really want to believe that it is as good as I initially believed it to be, but I’m reading too many stories about how people are managing to get round the system. I’m sorry but a slight change in your name or a different email address should not be enough to bypass the system. It’s not good enough.

Thanks Dan. I hope they find a way at Gamstop to really implement what they claim they can do. I believe all Gamblers have days where it would be easy to lapse, despite all good intentions. They need to know on them days that something is in place that will support them when this happens.

Did you use exactly the same details to sign up for this particular site as the ones that you registered with Gamstop?

Yes Dan I did use the same details but they may not be signed up to Gamstop. So this is the problem. Whilst there are still casinos that are not signed up, temptation will always be there.
