As the name suggests I had my first councilling session yesterday. Day one is an assessment day, lots of paperwork but only to find out how you can best be helped. The next set of sessions are what I am looking forward to, the way it was explained makes a lot of sense. We are going to discuss the 'positive' impacts gambling had on me and come up with ways to fill those voids, weather it be to combat other problems or just the thrill. I had never thought about it this way but it if I find a way to either still get a buzz or learn to live without it, it will make it easier to stop for good. Always hear (and feel) gambling is bad and gambling is wrong however there must be something that makes us keep place bet after bet. Week 1 compete today and I'm feeling grrreeeeaaattt.
Hi Argie
Great to hear that you're doing well and looking forward to the counselling! 7 days is a great milestone! It's been a few days since you posted with that news. Hope you're just busy doing all the things you came up with as ways to 'fill those voids', and hope you're still feeling as good as you did on Tuesday.
If you need any more info or support along the way you are welcome to contact us on the helpline 0808 8020 133 or the Netline - we're here 8am til midnight every day.
Best wishes
