Hello,

I've not been on here for ages. I'm very disappointed in myself today. I've lost £1000 on online slots. I have savings so I can afford to live but those took so long to build up. I seem to do so well for nearly a year then have a binge for a couple of days until the gambling 'mist' disappears.

I told my partner about my past problems with gambling but have not told him about still doing it.

Does anyone else go for so long then have a binge?

Xx

Hi needsupport.

Please you need to sit down with your parther and reach out. Honesty is your main asset to fight gambling. You must tell your partner as he can be a great help. He needs your honesty and he needs to know

You will need to put some effective blocks in place this time. Willpower is not enough if temptation and easy access is available.

You need to talk it through with us and with gamcare.

Before I put the blocks on I would manage 2 months through fear and scraping through my bills. I thought it was control but it was mainly fear. I then started thinking two week breaks were enough and that somehow I had been good enough to justify another gamble. That is the twisted mindset of a gambler..

Nearly a year is great but you have proved that we must never be complacent.

I finally self excluded. Online has never been my trigger so for you its about building barriers online. It may be that you cant have gadgets at all unless they are completely monitored.

I will renew my exclusions every year. Deep down I know that I can never heave a sigh of relief and must always be on my guard and admit that Im a recovering compulsive gambler.

I wish you all the very best. Keep posting your thoughts
