I WAS A PROGRAM GAMBLER!!!

This addiction has brought me to tears, destroyed my many life plans, made me lose entire savings, thrown me into debts, wasted my valuable time, made me an angry man and affected my relationship with people. Its the DEVIL

After losing it all last year and promising not to gamble again, I couldn't move forward. I went back borrowing to recover my losses and this resulted into more losses and new debts. I continued gambling till I hit a jackpot. I won but where is the high? it was just for that moment!. I was hoping the good feeling will last longer (I mean I won so much money), but all I wanted to do is go back and gamble again (I did, and lost a couple from the winnings anyway). I have won so much money but I didn't even know what to do with it, why? because Islam forbids gambling, every penny of my winning is forbidden for me to use for myself. The only safe option is to give it out as charity.

I have always known this ruling to be true, but I have never actually looked deeply into it until this very winning. So what has been the point of gambling all along? Even the losses I recovered are prohibited because I had actually lost my hard earned money already (These winnings are never losses recovered, but new gambling winnings). So at this point, I wondered what has all the pain been for? for Islamically once I lose my own money to gambling its forever gone, and any new winnings therefrom are prohibited for my use.

Since I accepted the above, the urge to gamble disappeared. Its totally gone. I have not gambled for a month now and I have never had the urge to gamble (not even once) during this period because I know whatever I may win is still useless to me so it doesn't excite me anymore. So whats the point of chasing probabiilities when both options will only result into losses to me (i.e I will lose my hard earned money, or I win money that is religiously prohibited for my use).

I have decided to give out my entire winnings to the needy. Alhamdulillah and Allahu Alam

To all muslims on here, I will leave you with the below reminders from our the scripture:

They ask you [Muhammad] concerning wine and gambling. Say: ‘In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit.’… Thus does Allah Make clear to you His Signs, in order that you may consider” (Quran 2:219).

“O you who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, dedication of stones, and divination by arrows, are an abomination of Satan's handwork. Eschew such abomination, that you may prosper” (Quran 5:90).

Hi Aji . That is good that this worked for you . I am of Catholic faith but would not call myself religious but also turned to God for help and I believe he gave me the courage to stop. That is so good you gave the money to charity ?.
