I am fully rogue at this stage in terms of my gambling addiction. There is zero self control, I cannot control my actions and this has gone beyond a joke.Â
I was going to buy a car last month, had just under 6k deposited into my account which was all my savings, I managed to accumulate this amount of money due to a notice account that only lets you access your account after 30 days notice, I gambled this within 3 hours.Â
I have gambled every pay cheque since, each time coming up with more and more excuses as to why I don't have any money.Â
This kind of incident is not isolated, I cannot have money without gambling it, the addiction over rides my brain and any money I come in to contact with will be gambled.Â
I have hurt relationships with friends and family. I even emigrated to try and escape my addiction but ultimately ended up gambling abroad, running out of money and having to get a friend to bail me out. This has been going on for 12 years, I am 31 now.Â
I cannot keep doing this! I live in a rural location and cannot access any kind of GA where I am and rehab is not an option.Â
I need to stop, I plan on writing journals and cancelling all cards but I feel this may still not be enough.Â
I am feeling very hopeless at this stage and I'm missing out on the amazing life I could enjoy if it was not for this disgusting addiction.
I write this as I sit here in the middle of the countryside with no car as I've gambled it away.
This disease is disgusting, If anyone has any advice that does not involve gamstop (I'm in Ireland unfortunately) I'd love to hear it.Â
It is mind mastery from this point. Tony Robins said that change will come when you are in such a state that you can't do anything else but change. He also says addiction is a state. Change your state and that should start to change your life. See if you can or you can't you will be right in both. You have to decide. Where to go from here. When you have taken that decision you will start to plan and when you plan you do and when you do you get somewhere. And from this point what else can you do? There are no other good choices. You have an obligation to yourself and to your loved ones to stick around and learn from this mess. Decide to learn and it will happen.
There are 100s of options online. This is one of them where you will find like minded souls who you can share your thoughts and ideas with.If you can find yourself a cbt therapist I would recommend it. They have a way of teaching you to structure your thoughts better and that is better than feeling that you are eternally damned and only god will save you. You need to save yourself and we have about 50% more strength than we think that we do. So it is time to find that strength now. Make a plan and start to learn about what is happening to you. You will find strength in that knowledge.
I wish you well!

Great solid advice here. But yes; to follow on, it’s all on you to make this change. I found myself, like you at 31, like you it went on for 13 years or so, stuck in a trap. Awaiting the next bet, lining it up, and inevitably CHASING and losing it all. Every. Single. Time.
Â
I found myself to try again and again to stop, but failed every time. The difference this time is I have had counselling which GamCare put me forward for. Give them a call and see the options available. Secondly; I have no debit card. For the first time in my life I actually cut my debit card up. I only have access to Apple Pay and I have gambling transaction block in place so any gambling transactions anywhere become blocked. Thirdly; I have turned to God and pray every morning in appreciation and to thank how my mindset has changed since I last gambled.Â
These are my experiences, take away any physical means to gamble, get some counselling either online or through GamCare, I do wish you all the best.

take care
