Hi ya

Having a really tough time this week and I really need to get a gambling block in place. Is there anyone that does this for free so you can still use Safari and not a browser that completely gives the game away.

My problem is, I don't have money at the moment so it's a really good time to get the block in place. My finances are in a right state and I'm not relatisically going to be able to pay for a block for a few weeks.

Any advice really appreciated as I've looked at some of the suggestions GamCare have listed. I'm just so worried because I really really want to stop and I just don't think it will happen without a block in place to get me through this hard part. What can I do?

Thanks

I personally haven't found anything effective yet - I don't really like the browsers already on there...they look very obvious as to what they are.

I just in the end had to uninstall Safari and block apps. It was the only way unfortunately. Please let me know if you do find anything better.

I've had a look at k9 browser and to be honest and I felt the same, really naff. I really don't want to lose the use of safari really. I'll keep on searching and let you know if I find anything Adam.

I'm surprised no one has come up with something really effective for IOS I must say.

Gamban are supposed to be doing a mobile version...I don't know if you are aware of their computer version but it's VERY subtle and is basically impossible to install - perfect.

But I've been emailing them for a few months and they keep promising 'by the end of the month' and this has been since August, so I'm hoping it's not too far away...

I saw that today as I think you may have suggested it to me earlier. I hope they come up with it soon. Would you mind letting me know if you hear anything?

I saw one called gamblock but their website confused me...talks about leasing...and then their contact form wouldn't work so I got frustrated with that. They work on the basis you have a minimum period of 1 year and you can't restore your phone in that time so can't delete the block.

I did hear back from Gamblock, everything was in USD but I sensed it was pricey, what they offered was leasing you the same devices that you own with the software already installed and this cannot be removed within the lease time (1/2/3 year). So you're paying the cost of a new Apple device plus the block.

The second option they gave was only possible if you had access to a Mac computer to put the software on your Apple device and this also cannot be removed.

I'm not going to use this one as I don't have an Mac but just thought I'd share what I had found out anyway in case it helpful to anyone else. I can't say if it is effective or not but what it is promising in theory sounds good.

I think I might go with betfilter as a temp solution and hold out for gamban sortingg something for iOS.

Hi all

This is a really useful thread but we're moving it to Overcoming Problem Gambling, as it's not really a debate, more information and tips. Also, I'm sure you'll all have seen it but for anyone who may stumble across this thread, there is a page about blocking software on our website:

Best wishes
