SUNDAY CATCH-UP

Good morning everyone! How are we keeping; how are we doing...?

Fireboy83 - Welcome to our group. You've started your gambling free journey, 8 days in. Do let us know how you're gettng on, and how we can help.

Wardal1979 - It's interesting that, post-GDPR, we are once again all getting more text and e-mails than ever. And you'll find lots of gambling ones, because new casino 'skins' (different casino sites but owned by the main gaming operators) spring up all the time. Keep gambanning/gamstopping - these sneaky providers are trying to sneak under the radar but soon they will ALL have to register with Gamstop. If on-line gambling is our weakness, then Gamstop will be our saviour.

Christer1 - thank you for checking in and I hope that life is settling for you; you've had a lot on your shoulders. No man is an island - a problem shared is a problem halved. Keep talking, keep sharing. I hope this weekend goes as well as it can be.

WhereIsMyMind - Delighted to see you've joined Gamstop. Look's like they're improving their enrollment process - when Gamstop started, the security questions were a bit hit and miss, preventing some of us from joining via this easy route. One day at a time, telling yourself, and meaning, "Just of today, I will not gamble" is what we need to do.

Godoicul - It's great to read you're enjoying the World Cup for what it is - a celebration of football. It doesn't need a bet, and, anyway, the results have been so topsy-turvy the only winners have been the bookies. But that's a moot point. As you right way - who needs a bet?

Dmpowell81 - 9 full weeks gamble free! As reviewers write on e-bay: "Excellent, A+++++++++!". Keep it going, you're on a good path here, my friend.

JeffUtd - I'm sorry to read that you relapsed and that it's***t you hard. A remind, as if you needed it, how fragile things are and that an extra special effort is required. The blocks have not been enough, and consider handing over financial control. If nothing changes, nothing will change and another relapse, as sure as night follows day, will follow. The ball's in your court, Jeff - you know what to do!

Tara2 - Loving your posts as always! It's good to continually challenge what our aspirations are in life and how we can meet them. The more we reflect, the clearer our path ahead. And it's good to share, and write your ideas down, too. It helps us 'set a marker' and chaneel our ideas better. It's good that the nearest casinos you can gamble at are getting too far away now; that's the way to go. Keeping tempations further out of the way has to be a good thing!

Stephen67 - As always, I enjoy your posts and take regular forays onto your diary threads. Your support of others is marvellous and you're looking after yourself too. And 16 days into being gambling-free, once again, you're "unto the breach!". Keep it going 🙂

Adam123 - I can see that you've been caught between a 'rock and a hard place' lately - wanting to keep away from gambling but finding conflicts with your socail life where these overlap (gambling opportunity presents itself). It's a question of hard choices, as you know. If you put yourself in the lions' den then you're more likely to be bitten - that's the brutal truth of it. The sacrifices are worth it, Adam. A gambling-free life opens up new doors, new friends, new experiences but it's not easy to transition. But going back to square one time and time again is worse. Not easy this, Adam, granted. But you're thinking about it, and that's going to be pivotal to your success.

BugMug - great to hear you're giving Ascot a swerve. Let's never forget, you might win, you might lose, but you give it back - and more - in the end anyway. So what's the point. What's the point in saying - I picked the Ascot winner using my skill and judgement and then lose it all and much more. Where's the kudos in that? None. Who gets impressed by that? No-one, actually.

Chartom194 - Creeping up to a fantastic 200 day milestone of being gambling-free. Excellent stuff 🙂 - you're sticking to this and it really matters - as you rightly recognise.

Mitch91 - It's good to note that you've diversified away from the demon gambling and into back onto activities you've let go lately - like fishing with your mates. I'm doing similar, actually, in a month's time - a trip to Normandy with some workmates to visit the WW2 beaches and Pegasus Bridge. We're both expanding our interests, investing time with our mates, and doing something much more worthwhile. How did you get on, by the way?

Serendipity77 - Tomorrow you hit 50 days gambling free. Great to read you're loving life - we only have one life so let's enjoy it as much as we can, eh. Lots of stuff will happen that will knock us, of course, but we don't need to deliberately hamper our lives by gambling. Why shackle oursleves to misery? It makes no sense and there's no point. Keep it going!

boxingdayfresh - Great to see you hit a month gambling-free, the point from which a serious intent starts, in my opinion. You talk about a heatwave we might get and we're certainly in for a fortnight of great weather - let's enjoy it! Let's get out there, in the sun, getting our Vitamin D and making the most of it. Gambling can 'go hang' - it's the equivalent of a damp, grey-skyed, dreary day.

Egdam - Com'n England indeed!!! I'm sure we're all set for the game. Let's enjoy it for what it is - an opportunity to see England cruise into the second round 🙂 but who know what surprises are in store .....!

DeterminedDan - thank you for checking in. Happy days indeed. A non-gambling dividend is tons better than the measly dividends we get from gambling, always overtaken by losses and bad times. Let's bring on the good times!

Slotfool - you're doing great with the alcohol. If had a medical warning and have reduced my booze intake considerably. In fact, almost a month now and I've drunk about 16 pints, in 5 sessions. That's a vast improvement and I feel much better without it, actually. But, like gambling, I have no choice - the gambling is down to zero, and my drinking must match that. I'm going to follow your lead, Slotfool.

AND FINALLY ...

Let's enjoy the lovely weather, and the World Cup which is shaping up into a memorable tournament already! It's doesn't need a bet and the stress of the inevitable losses and misery that it inflicts on our personalities. Let's be free of all that c**P and let's enjoy the football!

AND FINALLY, FINALLY

Until next time,

Mixer

Hello Mixer and Guru Challengers around the world. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Thank you for the Sunday Update Mixer which was good. I went to the link you recommended (favourite posts) and particularly liked the last post on that thread (Rules For Being Human).

Hope we can all stick to the game plan and rid ourselves of this miserable ball & chain called gambling addiction. I've noticed quite a few diaries were friends are having a good recovery with long periods gamble free. There is no good reason why we can't stop gambling and go forward together on this journey to a better life. It might drive us nuts for a while but we can maybe distract ourselves and focus on getting through one day at a time...stephen

I admit, I want control of things that I have little to not control over. I/we can only control our perception/reaction or the way that we deal with and process feelings. Right now in my world there is little that is a given and much to be revealed in time. It's frustrating, scarey, overwhelming etc. The serenity prayer comes to mind ! tara2

Hi Mixer

Youll be pleased to know im on 69days, i ended up taking a backseat and watching everyone else lose their money on the bandits, a few nudges both evenings and asked if i was having a go but its not bothered me one bit. finished 7th on day 1, poor days fishing was way too hot and my skin has been saying that since! haha

Saturday match was a bit more productive, ended up winning with 65lb 3oz still a hard days fishing but had some nice carp, ended the weekend with a match win, biggest fish of the weekend, aggregate weight win, doubles win and over £200 in prize money which was good, everyone loves a free weekend!
