Hi all, I’m now 31 and the temptation to gamble has always been there like a time bomb waiting to go off. It started with roulette machines in ***** when I was 16/17 at sixth form (remember being devastated Over losing £35!) ..I always managed to keep it in control until my first bad experience in 2008/2009 when I was 19/20 at uni. I extended my overdraft by £500 on the Friday and by the Saturday had lost it all, leaving me short until next loan instalment ...over the next couple of years I had a couple of other losses but in the main it was in control. I never stopped fully and always liked the odd bet on the football and a casino visit after a night out but was able to quit when ahead ...In 2013 I had a big win at the casino. With hindsight this was a bad milestone as it gave an expectation that I’d always beat the bookie..over the past 6 years I’ve won and lost and again mainly managed to keep it in control UNTIL lockdown...the restrictions on activities and social contact have meant I’ve been using only roulette too much and for the first time since that event in 2008/2009 I’ve felt unable to quit when ahead, this culminated in losing £994 of my own money yesterday (after payday of friday), I feel so guilty and disappointed in myself and need help to get through this. ive signed up to gamstop and put a block on with my bank. Here’s to beating this horrible habit

Hi Mh1112 and welcome to Gamcare.

Im glad you have decided to take the small step admitting you have a problem and want to address it. Im glad to hear you have taken measures to prevent you from gambling online.

Please feel free to talk openly in the forums, like you we are all powerless over gambling. Life gets better once we stop gambling.

Hiya hope your feeling abit better

But I guess that's probably not the case, well the first step is admitting that you've got a problem then seeking help. You've done that and it's not an easy thing especially when you've just lost and feel so down on yourself. Your not on your own! I hadn't gambled in about a year and went on line to a bet site playing roulette.  1hr later I'd lost nearly  £8000 that I didn't even have. So I know how you feel but I've got alot of help in place that's helping me through,  things are that bad I had TO get a church to drop me food off yesterday how ashamed do I feel,  but what I wanted to say is hang in there get help and don't try and Chase your money as there is only one winner and they don't give a dam how we are or how much we lost just as long as there sat in the big house laughing away at us mugs. I wish you all the best and stay gamble free please
