I just think it gets us talking about the wrong things....a red herring if you like.

A fortune can be lost playing at 20p to £2. I tend to think that compulsive roulette players will just go for the maximum stake on offer. Roulette on machines was not my trigger point although I did try it

My anti trigger was that it was too much like real gambling. It did bore me quickly and I went back to the slots. Thats interesting to me and strengthens my feeling that I was an escape gambler that needed spinning reels to put me in a trance

Perhaps Im not qualified to talk about roulette but I do know about slots and feel the "high roller" "Fortune spins" gamblers will just go for the new maximum stake and carry on. Huge amounts can be lost in a short period of time. They will take the lesser hit rather than nothing at all but will get used to it on rapid play.

short of a ban the regulation needs to go much further...rigid spending limits on machines based on a sign on process. That sign on process should be linked to personal information and the formal process may put more people off.

Proper health warnings...the real odds should be printed and less reliance on the rtp figure which is essentially meaningless per session.

The gambling dens dont want to do this and I actually want a full ban. Is there a middle ground?

best wishes to everyone on the forum

This debate is almost futile. A compulsive gambler will bet on anything. My husband went from access to funds and loans gambling huge amounts, to a pound that was for his coffee. If you are a compulsive gambler in recovery you will know that it has absolutely nothing to do with money. It's about the feeling, the escape, the bubble, the numbness. It doesn't matter if it's 50p or £50 it's the emotional escapism. Until you realise you're not gambling to win, you won't realise the amount of money is irrelevant. Debt or no debt it's the action of gambling that is destructive. £2 will keep the fire burning, will lead to other forms of gambling, will lead to emotional damage. Waiting for the £2 limit is an excuse. It's a pacifier. Yes it will lead to some not bothering but they are not the compulsive gamblers. You'd be surprised how much money you can lose sitting at a slot machine .

We are not all the same. Just because there may be seemingly no hope for me as I have lost £5000 in an hour online and also can spend my last few pounds at times in the bookies does not mean I can detach myself from what is good for society. The ones that will not bother are some of the ones that will be like me if we do not have some sort of regulation.

It is of no coincidence that the two countries with the most compulsive gamblers are the two most unregulated countries.

Australia and UK.

Have the jackpots now changed on these machines also? I would imagine they will not be paying out 500 to often on a two pound stake. I notice they don’t advertise that either!

Too little, too late for a lot of us.

I think it will prevent quite a few people though, because a £2 bet will never give you a win that a £10 bet will, for example.

It's no good going in with your monthly salary because that's going down the drain. You need to be rich and have some 'betting' money on the side for fun. That's the only way this can work unfortunately. This isn't for poor people. I know rich people lose too, but if you've already got money, you don't miss it as much if it's just some money on the side for games.

I used to play a machine in my local bar. It was a risky business and I would sometimes stick £400 in the machine just to get £300 and then count myself lucky. It's just not worth it. If you're poor, save your money. Don't give it to these ruthless businessmen running the gambling industry, who are just laughing at you while they're permanently on holiday. That's how you win in life. Trust me, that's the best roll of the dice you can ever do. Keep your money in your account, crack open a beer and laugh at them instead for not getting another penny out of you. 2 fingers up to all of this.

An absolute game changer for people who have a roulette problem. For me my casino gambling is limited to that. Have never ever been interested in slots. Today I put my money in and upon learning it’s the £2 thing I literally took my voucher out and walked away. Ok it won’t do wonders for slots players but it’s an absolute life saver for roulette addicts

too Little too late is true for us but think about the future and also next generation
