Hi everyone,

I'm wright07 and im a gambling addict. I am 25 years of age and have gambled since my late teens. My last bet was today. I currently have minimal money to last me till the end of the month. My main reason for wanting to stop gambling is to find myself again. I've lived in a bubble where numbers on a screen have defined my mood and how I treat others. I hope that by having this thread I can stay accountable and also share my thoughts/feelings on a regular basis. I have blocks in place so I am unable to gamble and I currently have minimal money. As I am stopping gambling a big positive is I should have a hell of a lot of time on my hands, I am hoping to take up running in order to channel all this extra time into something positive and worthwhile. Thanks everyone for reading and hope you all have a great rest of your day.

Hi wright07,

It's fantastic that you have made this step, and taken measures to prevent yourself from gambling. I am 8 weeks clear of gambling myself after years of loosing far more than I could afford each month.

One thing that has helped is my running, I have been training for the Brighton marathon, it has given me something to focus on and work towards. Plus it's is a distraction at times. Yesterday I ran for 3 and a half hours, a similar amount of time that I use to spend gambling on a sunday.

I wish you all the best ?

@72xtgskcri wow 8 weeks amazing your doing really well! Well done on the training too for the marathon. I have ran a couple of half marathons in my time but yeah all my time has been consumed by gambling so hoping to get a healthy distraction in place starting nice and slow in the next couple of weeks.

Hi, that's amazing you're stopping gambling! I wish you all the best, its the case of one day at a time, really take in every day things we tend to not notice from living in our bubble looking at our phone screens. It's amazing how much time we get back from giving that up. It takes a lot of hard work but it's so worth it!
