Hi Guys,

Honestly feel so drained like I can’t get my head around why I keep coming back to gambling. I went almost 1 year without. Had 1 on 1 counselling for 12 weeks and thought I’d cracked it. But a few weeks back I gambled and over this few weeks I have come out in a few hundred pounds debt on my credit card. I am currently excluded from all the bookies and online bookies but I can still find ways and I scare myself at times how I can relapse this easily!! Now owing a load of money on my credit card and ultimately gutted with myself.
thanks for taking time to read this I could do with advice off anyone who’s relapsed before. I am only 21 and it feels like I’ve been living in hell since I was 18.

Hi anon. You’ve done the right thing telling your parents this will make u feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. The best thing you can do is talk to people about it. I relapsed recently after a year out of gambling so I can relate to your story but relapse is very common in addiction and in a way can be a good thing because you can see where you have gone wrong previously and then correct it. Have you thought about giving your bank cars to your patented or parents ? This works very well and also give any form of identification to parents or partner so that you cannot walk in and withdraw money out of the bank. If you know all the numbers off your card then cancel your card and get a new one sent out and give it straight to parents. The money you have lost has gone you must get this drilled into your head. You can’t get that back what you have lost and what you have  to do is look to the future and realise the only way of gaining money is to work for it. If you feel the urge to gamble go running I found that helped me a lot. You need to find something you love doing and have a passion for and replace the gambling with this. Find something you can put as much energy into as you did for gambling. If you feel like gambling tell someone straight away and remeber this sad feeling you have if you feel like gambling because it will always always always bend in tears and you will never gain anything from gambling you will loose everything money friends family. Don’t let gambling take over your life. The non gambling version of you is 1000000 times better than the gambling version of you always remember that. Take care . I’m here if you need to speak.
