Evening everyone.
Ive always thought it's a good idea to take up a new hobby or to get back into something you used to enjoy but no longer do to prevent you going back to gambling. Just wondering if anyone else thinks the same and if so what hobby have you chose?
I started kickboxing and abstained for 6 months, I've relapsed a couple of times since but the hobby still remains a big part of my life and helps me stay on track. A hobby is a must in my opinion . My only hobby previously was poker
Hi yes a hobby or change of lifestyle essential. I started studying and it was the best thing I have ever done. Not only has this given me something to focus on. It has given me self confidence and enabled me to connect with people. All the things I lost when I was gambling. It takes courage and focus to start a new hobby college or excersise. making new friends and having support is just as scary however having a support network is exactly what I needed to help when I am at my most vulnerable. IWould encourahe all who are on this journey of recovery to give something new a try what have you got to loose.
Take care,
Yes, I believe a healthy hobby/sport is a must as well. So far it has really helped me with filling the time that I would spend Gambling. It gives me something to look forward to. Something to enjoy that ends well, and I go home without Yelling at myself and the world, and feeling horrible for days after.
It has been a month since I quit gambling. I tried to stay busy all the time. I don't use computers, only in the office, I took a dog from the shelter. Now I have to take care of the dog, work and evenings I spend with friends or try to teach my dog not to bark on everyone outside;)
Affected by gambling?
