How does someone stop gambling when they live with there partner who will most likely never stop? I’ve tried and failed, first time trying to stop as well but it’s so hard!! Watching him spin on the online slots an thinking no I won’t do it again then when I get bored I just think sod it and log in to his accounts and deposit. Any advice??
Hi Trace,
Firstly, thanks for your post on our forums. You are in the right place.
I'm sorry that you are experiencing some difficulties with gambling harms at the moment and find yourself in a difficult situation.
You should be proud that you have at least attempted to stop so please don't see it as a 'failed attempt' - It takes courage to even attempt and can take a long time, however with the right support in place, you are more than capable.
I noticed you have referred to your husband gambling, which seems to be triggering. Can I possibly ask if your husband may have a problem with gambling harms please?
If you don't feel comfortable answering that, please don't worry about it.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

Yes my partner has a gambling addiction but he doesn’t want to stop. He likes to do the horses too.

I'm kind of the same. I've ended up spending too much time on the slots, I do it out of boredom..it was my partner who got me onto it in the first place. I hide my gambling from him now, I'm not in serious financial difficulties but if I carry on I would be. Few hundred quid a month. Never more than that but its the cycle of losing, then winning it back..then trying my luck again and ending up 200 quid down. Although my partner isn't on the slots like I am, he gambles in other ways.. ways which are probably worse. He's heavily involved in Crypto currency which is basically gambling just on a much bigger scale. Ironically he'd be fuming if he knew I was spinning the slots, but he's a gambler himself and there's no escape from it.
Affected by gambling?
