Hello everyone,
As most people know, cigarettes now can't be visible in shops and supermarkets etc, this is because it can be encouraging for young/vulnerable people to start smoking or to even smoke more, so by covering them up, they aint so much in your face and the impulsive buying is reduced!
Now...
Why can't the same be done for scratch cards, they are just as much in your face as cigarettes used to be, but are not even considered a health risk, which potentially they are, to people like us, who cant control gambling (not saying everyone buys scratch cards) but I think I have a very valid point...
What would it take for the government to put controls on this...petitions, surveys, applications etc.
I think people need to realise just how lethal gambling can be for those of us who get caught in the bookes net!
Be interested in everyones thoughts on this!
Yes its a good idea to take out of sight, but I agree with Half Life, its only lip service. However it may stop those who are problem gamblers before the addiction progresses.
Theres no political will because its big business that generates tax.
Its crystal clear to me thats its all based on smoke and mirrors. The ultimate fairground stall thats too big to fail. Did you ever try and get the hoop over the jar....looks possible until you realise that its got to almost land vertically within a tiny margin.
The ultimate dodgy stall. The back street cup and ball trick with paid stooges. YES I do liken it to that because people need to understand how the real odds are set up.
Everyones looking for the golden ticket. Yes someone will win the car but not before thay have sold countless more in ticket prices. They are not going to sell three tickets and give a car away! People need to wake up to how this extends to fruit machines, scratch cards and other forms of gambling.
Weve got to wake up and start saying no more. They are trying to turn us into a nation of gamblers
Affected by gambling?
