I have also come to the realisation gambling is out of control for me, I just received a cheque for mis sold ppi for 2k of which I have just wasted over half of it online black jack. I was even up at one point then lost it. Thank god I did not waste any more, I have also been playing the stock market and managed to do ok over the last few months there but made a couple of bad decisions lately that cost me a few thousand pounds so I decided to sell all my shares last week and put it into a savings account that takes a day to transfer money with the intention that if I get urges to gamble I cannot access my funds quickly. I am kind of glad I lost that money just now as it has made me realise I have a problem and that it needs sorting, selling my shares and putting into a safe account was a good idea so I do have some money locked away, just frustrated I didn't come on here before tonight and losing half the money I was given. Thankfully i have not borrowed money recently to gamble and I am glad I have joined this forum

How are you getting on makeachange?

I've had another recent slip too. Well done for getting straight back on with recovery. That's important.

I struggle dealing with making the same mistakes over again. But with each slip I've had, I've tried to analyse my behaviours, thoughts and circumstances which lead up to each slip and find out what went wrong. If I can work out what happened and take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again then it's no longer a mistake. It's a lesson. And I'm hopeful I've not got any more lessons to go before I've cracked this!

Stay focused and stay strong x

I think the problem is the guilt we feel at what we have lost. We are always searching for the quick fix to win back what we lost but in reality we are NEVER going to win back what we have lost. Like the sands of time it is gone forever and the sooner we realise that the better. I lost £900 the last time I gambled and I am going to use that as my inspiration to kick this for good. If £900 helps me to end gambling forever then it will have been £900 well spent. Sometimes it takes something major to force a mind change. I've lost more than that over the years but the desperate low I experienced left me contemplating where does my life go from here!
