Checking in on day 28 - 4 weeks Gf! And still loathing gambling and choosing life!

Barney it's gonna be 28 days for me tomorrow. 4 weeks!!

Major challenge ahead as I get paid tomorrow and I am off work all weekend. Got to dig out the old sheer grit and will of steel.

Or was it titanium? Sure I was on titanium?

Ah well if I can make it to 8 weeks I'll definately change my material!

We CAN and we WILL.

Just checking in. Another gamble free day here. Nearly posted a big rant, but remembered that I need to remain positive and this isn't the place for self-pity. WCAWW.

Hello everyone and we've hit, collectively, 2 weeks GF, that's 2 weeks deciding to choose life instead of misery. We realise it truly is as simple as that; life, or misery, and every day ask ourselves that simple question.

    • Hmmm, I've just been paid. Do I choose life or certain misery?
    • I've had a jaw-droppingly bad day and I mean bad. Quite possibly the worst day EVER. But, do I choose life, or make it EVEN WORSE by choosing certain misery?
    • I think that one teensy-weensy bet won't hurt. Again, do I choose life or certain misery?

It's New years Eve Eve tomorrow. Lets be extra strong for this one; we've 2 days of warm up before 2017 - it's going to be OUR year, everyone. OUR year.

Let's not forget where we are right now. It's now 2 weeks since we started this challenge, and we're doggedly and determinedly sticking at this. We are doing great! The peace of mind; better relationships, extra cash... the rewards are filtering through. Can it get better? Oh, yes!

*** Quotes of the day ***

"Gambling: The sure way of getting nothing for something." - Wilson Mizner

"In most betting shops you will see three windows marked "Bet Here" but only one with the legend "Pay Out" - Jeffrey Barnard

"Dear Lord, help me to break even. I need the money" - Anon

Dean0 - great to chat to you on webchat and looking forward to joining your 2017 challenge (really recommend it everyone!)

Wardle - another GF day, keeping strong 🙂

Sbb - I hope you are now out of your darkened room and back into the sunlight! No more puzzles like that again - promise (not!) 🙂

Barney - love the fact you loathe gambling. We must all HATE gambling with a passion. It is EVIL and we won't let it destroy us.

KP82 - doing fantastic my friend. You can put that titanium on. You are NOT going to be GF today. And tomorrow.

Fiddlesticks - Day 25, your silver anniversary - congratulations. Keeping resolutely GF too!

Emonster - thank you for the post; 10 days away from the big-100. Inspirational... I know, one day at a time, you'll get to that target - and BEYOND.

ScottM - Thank you for the post too. I've read your blog, and as you say in your last post you relapsed, but although didn't take a financial hit you were MENTALLY DRAINED. Losing money isn't the half of it. It's the time wasted and the severe reputional damage. Glad you're on Day 2 - you've got to stick with this, you know that.

Soda - another GD. You said in your post you felt like posting a big rant, but said this thread isn't the place for self-pity. Thank you for your considerate approach; you're right, we are not too hot on self-pity here. For our own threads or anywhere else, of course, but here's about constructively helping each other day-to-day to keep GF. Appreciate your thoughtfulness soda.

Sam - thanks for updating and 213 day GF - what can I say.

Bal - thank you for checking in, another GF day. That's music to my ears, music to all of our ears 🙂

Good evening all.Just back from our trip to Liverpool to watch the mighty Reds put Stoke in their place. The 280 mile drive up on 27th took just 4.5 hours, 8 hours back today, absolutely shattered but glad to be home and gamble free. My partner said on the journey home that she was suprised I had not suggested a trip to the Casino that was 10 minutes away from our hotel as we had always spent an evening there during past stays. I have to admit it did cross my mind for a short moment after the match, but quickly passed. As I mentioned in previous posts, she does not know that I have committed to stop gambling which I appreciate is not the right approach for most trying to quit but she was just pleased she was not dragged to that Den of Iniquity!

Evening all, any chance I can join the A team?

I'm on day 14 and looking to smash this gambling b***h once and for all. Keeping a diary is definitely helping and this could be a bit more commitment that makes sure I stay away from the devil wheel of boom aka roulette.

You mean business and together we ALL, in this group, mean business.

babapapa - thank you for checking in and delighted that (a) the mighty Reds picked up a mighty 3 points and (b) you swerved the den of iniquity. Respect.
