daughter did not meet son in law again.

The marriage is over.  My son in law has lost two stone in weight and has told us he hasn’t had a bet.  He invited my husband out for a pint but my husband declined.  We have supported him for 5 years in every way possible but have recently found out that he is blaming being unhappy in his marriage as his trigger for betting.  We have also found out that he spent £6K in two years on betting before he met my daughter.  His dad also told us he has spent £5K on betting as his dad has given him the money.  This all happened before he met my daughter.  HE BLAMES EVERYONE BUT HIMSELF!  She has moved back home but son in law has now decided to threaten my daughter by saying she has to do what he wants so she can get an easy divorce! Basically he wants to lie to the military and she doesn’t.  I feel morally my Daughter should report this to the authorities because he is manipulating her and asking her to be dishonest.  If he claims he is not gambling now he clearly is doing this beohe is just unpleasant!

I have witnessed the sly side of an addiction I have seen how someone who appears a solid person hide a sinister secret.  It’s frightening!  I feel so sorry for anyone gripped by this addiction as it ruins relationships and destroys not only the gamblers life but also everyone around them.

My daughter now has frail self esteem and is very slowly getting her life back to normal but it’s going to take counselling and a lot of love.  But she is out of it.  My poor son in law I fear never will be until he goes to GA and gets structured support. He has had counselling.  

There is lots of extremely good people on here and I would appreciate some advice on how to help my daughter.
