Hi

Im very new to this but have read lots of your diary and it gives me hope. Unfortunatley I fell at the first hurdle but continued to read on here and feel there is lots of support to be had and lots of good advice. Hope I will get to where you are.

Hi Jas,

Yes it has been a year of ups and downs hasn't it. But truely well done on staying the course, I know how difficult you have found it.

I have returned, so I guess you'll be hearing a lot more from me and I'm only sorry that I didn't manage to stay the course myself.

Life continues on around all of us regardless.

Take care

Weldy X

I have had a birthday surprise from my family. They have booked me into my fave hotel in Llandudno overlooking the Great Orme. Going in a couple of hours. I don't usually like surprises because I am a control freak and like to know what is going on but hey ho...it's actually rather lovely to have something planned for me by someone else for a change.

Feeling great today..inside and out. Free of gambling too. Can't be bad.

Speak soon and stay strong....Jas xx

Morning Jas,

Have a fantastic time and HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes coming at you for tomorrow!

As Charly has already said You deserve this trip... Your family are so proud of you and what you have achieved since your last birthday.

I'm proud of you Jas. You have showed such strength and a need to learn and find the winning formula of your recovery.

You are obviously a naturally very up-beat person in the 'real' world and that always shines through in your posts.

I have watched you wade through the 'thoughts & writings' of others on here. Weighing them up, sorting out the b******t where needed... but always moving forward.

There is nearly always something be it positive or negative that I learn from each and every entry that I read. I use them to keep my awareness fresh and keep my recovery strong.

You don't intentionally put yourself at risk, you don't try to 'test' yourself... which can so often result in 'bringing out the johnny big balls of gambling persona' that I see in so many gamblers that are just fooling themselves.

You appear very aware of you and your weaknesses & situations that may take you down that dark path... long may that continue Jas.

You and your family deserve to have the 'whole' of you, Jas.... Half measures of the past, are no good for anyone.

Enjoy!

Jackie x

Hi Jas, I haven't checked in for a while but I am here now. It seems you are celebrating a birthday. Good for you. Enjoy it and do what makes you happy. You seem to be strong in recovery and that's fantastic, well done. Your hard work and commitment has brought you the true rewards that life brings. What goes around comes around, I have always believed that. I am guessing you are in Wales. I don't know for how long. Well I am in Bath which is pretty close, so if you and your family are popping by then do drop in for a coffee. Either way, be happy.

Simon.

A real calmess has returned to my life. I am finding it difficult to explain what I mean. It's like I am doing all normal stuff again without thinking about it...subconscious acts of normalness.

Thanks for all the support through this journey....Jas xx 🙂

Hi Jasmine

Calmness is great and it's great to be doing "normal" stuff.

Please do me a favour and always stay alert and wary of those horrible demons that are always on our shoulders and could pounce when we least expect them.

I am so happy for you and P to finally be doing the stuff that you should have been doing years ago. A bit like me and my angel. It feels ..well... calm...

Lots of love and hugs to you and P

God Bless

Charly/Sabine

I am a trained florist and I used to do National Demonstrations. I was part of the team who decorated Westminster Abbey last year. Since then I have hardly done anything at all. I do the odd wedding and some for friends and home. I have been contacted to do another demo.

This is it with recovery. I am now able to recognise situations I am not comfortable with. This fits into that category. Yeah, I could do it and then what.....the anxiety would build and build and build and then wham! I just know the gambling Gods would be rubbing their hands together in glee.

I love the norm and calm which I have and I don't want anything upsetting the applecart.

So...for today....I will refuse the demo booking....even though I need the money....

I know I waffle on this diary but it makes sense to me 🙂

Jas xx

There is something else I want to put but I am going to post separately.
