Hi LC , WOW ! , what a compliment and thank you so much .

The truth is really that I get just as much , if not more from talking with people on here than I ever give out , this place was my saviour when I first came and it's wonderfull people took me from the very dark place I'd arrived with , to where I am now and personally it's really helping my recovery by passing it forward to those that come here feeling the way I did and show them how much life can improve in such a short time .

I'm glad you felt comfortable with my responses to you , I've never liked being preached to and have always tried to put myself in the shoes of others and respond accordingly , were all adults and most of us already know the answers to the questions we ask but coming from someone else , it usually gives us the eurika moment that was hiding within .

I'm really glad youv'e decided to quit for a while , it'll give you time to anylise and gain a bit of clarity as to want you really want to do regarding your gambling and if you decide to stop completely then great, you know where we all are now , so don't be a stranger but if you feel that youv'e gained the control that I think you really crave I'll tip my hat right back at you sir ! .

Whatever choice you make , only you know you , so either gamble responsibly or give up completely but as long as you are happy with your choice then all's good !!.

Morning LC and thanks for the update , really glad your sticking around and seemed to have found a bit of clarity in your search within . I'm also pleased that you managed to give the bookies a miss , as once inside we seem to lose all sense of logic , or maybe that's just me ? . I was never into National Hunt and always seemed to prefere the flat , especially trying to work out the handicaps but I can fully understand you wanting to go to a big meeting and enjoy it for the spectacle it is , I just wish I could say the same for me , I used to enjoy Goodwood as it was the closest Gr 1 course to me but in all honesty as much as I enjoyed all the pomp and ceremony of it , I'd always end up backing dogs or hitting the machines in the on course shops , trying to justify winning some stake money fior the afternoons horse racing , so for me that's another avanue of pleasure that I've had to close down but it's all good , I can live with that if it means I'm at peace and happy in my everyday life .

If you can control it , then I think hey ! why not if It's not a problem then no reason not to , everything else in my life , Booze , smoking ( until I quit ) ( the cig's , not the booze ) have never been a problem but I am what I am when it comes to betting and that's a Compulsive Gambler !.

Thanks alan i have to say ur really helping me out and so is the forum i havent had a brt since friday in any form i was going to pop in the bookies yesterday but then i thought A)i dont need to because of my previous claims and B) i would have to come on and tell ALAN what i have done and the rest of the forumites so i drove past i have also spoke to close friends and my brother about it over the last few days whom all think im not an out of control addict but are also addicted to the thrill of the chase when im envolved my real journey starts if my planes lucky enough to get there and back when im off holiday so thanks again ur a real help to me cheers for ur time

Ha ! Ha ! Yeah , that's always a scary thought coming back here after another binge !!.

It's nice to be able to just chat sometimes , either on here or in 3d as youv'e just said about your family , do they gamble? as I'm always of the opinion that you tend to to get a bit of lip service from people that are still activly gambling but not so much from someone whos never gambled or a CG in recovery .

I have customers in my shop who I had gambled alongside for many years , who initially would come in and see how I was doing once I had given up but since I haven't gone back to my old ways , they seem to have deserted me now , I'd never preach to them when they asked about it as I don't think that's fair ( each to there own ) but they seemed to look upon me as a Leper towards the end , frightened to look me in the eye incase they caught the abstinance bug ! .

I like that new word " Forumites " remindes me of " Marmite " but hey ! love em or hate em eh ? LOL !.

Enjoy this holiday you keep bangin on about ( just jealous ) , going somwhere nice , Monte Carlo , Vegas , Dubai or Blackpool ? ,No offence to anyone living in Blackpool or Dubai :)).

Hi alan we have a little club we buy various things to some stats some software some outright inside info one of them has tipped his hat for me to A)comin on here B) telling them about 2 years ago we managed to get banned from an independant bookies for winning 12k in 10 weeks twice firstly the ring leader got banned then i fronted it and he got me banned to but another about the upside theres always a flip side my brother has the odd dabble not really enough to say his is a gambler like myself his opinion counts for most because i know he loves like a brother should and he knows exactly the way i go about my business he thinks im addicted to trying beat the system but have enough control not to go ball deep in it as for the holiday im going to spain ive never been and dont really wanna go i have a fear of flying from somewhere but its a promise to my dearly departed mother whom im promised to take my family on a holiday abroad.......happy days hopefully !

Ps sorry to hear ur mates dis owned u perhaps some people to do it to try and take themselves away from the spotlight of people around urself blaming them for ur addictioni have the opposite i told them im ditching the stand alone gambling and i have had 5 tips sent to this week by them as i have paid my share for the info u gotta laugh but to be honest it doesnt bother me they r great people hopefully meeting them in thenpub later where the subject will be firstly does this beer taste alright to yo and then horses n football but i woildnt have any other way

Bookies don't like winners mate , you should know that . Had the same thing happen to me some years back ,and the one and only time I beat the system, I'd worked out that 5 fulong flat races at thirsk ,high numbers always had a massive advantage whatever the price of the horse , so I had a massive clean up backing the 4 drawn the highest and doing comb tricast bets , well until everyone else worked it out and they altered the running rail at the track , bookies didn't like it one jot but that was the only time I won consistently and have given them much more back since ! ,

Ref the flying , well it's the best ride in the theme park mate , take off and landings brilliant , the rest is a bit boring to be honest and you could alaways sit at the back , as planes very rarely reverse into something : )) Ha ! Ha ! Sorry ! only kidding bud , nothing to fear except fear itself and you'll love it I'm sure and old mum will be looking after you !!.

Just remember this phrase on landing " Puede darme veinte cinco bottella's de cerveca , pour favour " and youv'e just asked for 25 bottles of beer , should keep you going for an hour or two ? :)).

Evenin forumites .....eh up ive only bin and past 7 betting shops today and not been in one of um ive also spent the best part of 500 quid with none of it going towards anything to do with gambling brought some near gear and brought the mrs a bit of jewellery brought the kids some stuff and most unusual i brought meself somethin normally i would skip that and av it as stake to get another pot going ...now theres an improvement ...happy days

Big improvement mate , remember little steps are better than one giant leap sometimes , good to see your footprints starting to show up around the forum as well .
