Thank you both
just watching a youtube program on addicted gambling. it's such a vicious problem, makes me feel a bit sick!
I know when you watch about it it's horrifying isn't it doesn't seem real almost. The sick feeling is your bodies recognition of bad times use it to cement your determination .
Hello Dan 🙂
So very pleased to see you're still racking up the days and reaping the benefits. One day at a time 🙂
Thank you - that means a lot,Â
1225 days now, still a slog at times but life is much better when I choose to face my addiction head on, day by day

1233 gamble free days
still facing the consequences but still choosing to not gamble
1276 days gamble free
its been a hard slog with work and homelife throughout the last 8 months and today felt very triggering, mostly as I was working flat out again, thinking there must be a better way
My best way is to choose not to gamble though, I don't have much at all but I am still richer than I ever was for the 20+ years I was actively gambling
Congratulations Dan
Reaching 1276 days is an excellent achievement.
I'm sure many others reading your diary will find it inspirational.
Best wishes

Congratulations Dan on your excellent progress.Â
On the 27th July 2017 you wrote the following words in your diary:
Â
"Whatever challenges come
Whatever obstacles are still to be hurdled
They can and will be overcome.
I am not going back.
I no longer gamble."
Â
You, my honourable friend wrote those words 1276 days ago and you have done exactly what you said you would do.
I take my hat off, raise my hand and salute a noble and courageous Gamcare Warrior.
Respect and best wishes from your old friend StephenÂ
Good to see you Dan! Unfortunately it’s not easy. Recovery is uncomfortable but has massive rewards. ‘Don’t Quit’ is one of my favourite poems(?). Idris Elba read it in the nhs ad at the beginning of the pandemic. Keep looking forward.Â
oh, wowsers.
Â
I may have just had a little humble tear on my cheek.
Thank you all for your comments
actually got it wrong, it was 1278 and now 1280, which I believe is also 3.5 years

my heart goes out to anyone in an active state - this pandemic is draining and lengthy, I've worked throughout with barely a week of non working days in the last 8 or 9 months - very tired but equally it's good to have a check in with no reports of any gambling
I have however spent quite a bit on a game on my phone, golf, a fremium game and I do wonder if that is the old voices and choices being made again so I need to take steps to address that
Â
3.88 years...or...1,418 days... since I last gambled
Â
Quite pleased with that
I was 'active' for over twenty years though so the scales still have a fair amount of balancing required! 🙂
