Thanks for the posts everyone. Have had a lazy today and suffering with a bit of a hangover. Watched a bit of footy then just polished off Sunday dinner. Think i am going to give Alan Carrs book on giving up gambling a try. Even if i can learn one thing to help me then it will be worth it. Day 55 and still going strong. Payday coming up so will be treating myself before any gambling urges try and show up.

Well finished Allan Carrs easyway to stop gambling and it is very thought provoking. Definetely going to follow it along with keeping my diary. All about positivity and changing your frame of mind so that you never gamble again. Well worth a read and only£ 2.50 on kindle.

Hi Gregg

Thanks again for the ongoing support. Well done on continuing a happier life. Made up for you that this has enabled a treat for you and your family to get away, bet you felt really good booking that trip!

Must have a read of that book you mention, this is where I went wrong in the past - fixating my recovery on getting through a certain amount of gamble free days, and then once reaching that goal not being prepared for the continuance of abstainance. I firmly believe the recovery is about creating a new life away from gambling. Readjusting to life without that need and finding happiness is basic forms such as a nice weekend away in Edinburgh!

Keep up the good work mate

James

Thanks everyone for all the support. 59 days into my new life and planning to have a night on the town tomorrow with wife and some close friends to celebrate. Really feeling upbeat and already planning to get my garden up to scratch this year when the good weather comes. Also planning on buying a bike and doing some cycling with my daughter.

Hi Gregg,

Keep it going mate.

I'm so pleased for you. Your daughter is going to see the benefit of having her 'real' dad back now. And a fit one too, by the sounds of the bike riding your going to be doing!

61 days is fantastic, enjoy your weekend

All the best

Day 61 of my new life today. Have had a bit of a hangover today but it was worth as had a really good night with my wifeand friends. Going to get a takeaway and watch some Family Saturday night tv. Have heard a few people mention that they are worried aboutCheltenham coming up. I am not that bothered because i remember when i was gambling every day itdid not matter to me whether it was cheltenham or fakenham or even Portman Park as long as i could bet on something and most times would be skint before cheltenham even started. So as a non gambler now i am going to be like all the other non gamblers and say no Thanks i am not interested in horses running around a field jumping obstacles. Heres to another month of joy and happiness in this new life we have all discovered and keep up the good fight everyone.

Hi Gregg

Good to see a nice positive post on a Sunday morning! I can guarentee you will be feeling a whole load better not betting on the horses than any win could ever do for you. Be proud that you're not interested in horses, we have enough stuff going on in our own lifes than what other people are doing. (Always use that line on my mrs to put her off Big Brother but it never works).

Glad to hear you're thinking about getting a bike, it just makes me feel so much happier being outside on my bike keeping fit. The cycle to work scheme is good, had two bikes on it now, the first one I sold a few months ago more than what I paid minus the tax free discount. It's good if you are starting off as well as you can get accesories with it.

Keep up the fight mate, and keep smiling in your new found life

James
