Hi,

Day 45,

I've just been online and reduced my credit card limit from £7,750 to £2,500. I feel much better now that I have done that. That has been the problem in the past - having fairly large credit card limits and maxing them out through gambling. Looking back at my accounts it makes me so angry when I think about the number of times I have received a letter from my bank informing me that they have looked at how I have been using my credit card and deemed me suitable for a credit card increase. They can clearly see how and why I was using my credit card and were keen to maximise profit levels. My choice, my fault but still sickening.

I am also waiting for three further payments to hit my three other credit cards then I can close them and have the satisfaction of cutting up the cards. I will feel so much happier and at ease to just have one credit card available to use.

I hope that everybody is having a great gambling free day.

Best wishes to all.

Dave

Hi all,

Day 46

Just been on the phone to cancel three credit cards and enjoyed the satisfaction of cutting them up. There will be no more secretly setting up new credit cards for me. That is all in the past now. Onwards and upwards. I have also been through all of my direct debits and standing orders and cancelled any I no longer need/require.

It is pouring down outside but I have a new sense of hope and positivity inside. 🙂

Best wishes to all.

I hope that you are having a great, gambling free day.

Dave

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! And I don't want to sound like a "Debbie Downer" but I also had my credit card limit reduced at one point but I still maxed it out with gambling all the time, so just a word of caution to not become complacent. Your wife sounds amazing. Keep her in the loop as to how you're feeling and most especially if you get urges. Fighting alongside you!

Day 48,

Thanks Carla and the bear. I really appreciate your support.

Last night was tough. I got in last night feeling pretty tired having had a pretty rubbish afternoon (nothing to do with gambling) As soon as a got in my wife got upset about my gambling and wanted to talk about it. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't very receptive - a combination of being really tired, rough day and not expecting it. I know that it is going to take a long time to regain her trust (if ever) I can also completely understand why she worries that this time is no different to the others. It is true that we seem to have had a lot of the same conversations as last time. My resolve is so much stronger this time around though and I am going to stick close to my diary and not become complacent.

I hope that everybody has a good, gambling free day.
