Day 4 - Gambling not been on my mind, just been slowly getting through the day. Working out finances and how much I can spend, all that rubbish. Haven't got round to read any more of Alen Carr's book. Maybe later on.. Just over half the way through my first week GF.

FAILED. Started chasing a loss which obviously ended up in more money down the drain. Wasted about £500. That's a lot of money. I did it mostly on my phone. Completely forgot to get someone to set up a restriction lock for me, just so annoyed at myself for forgetting about it. If I got someone to put this lock on would I of lost the money this weekend? Who knows. I have money in my bank to see me through until the end of the moneth. I still have money in my savings account which is now LOCKED. I cannot touch it until next month.I really can't remember the last time I went at least 10 days without a bet, it's really f*****g worrying. I'm getting very angry with myself. Still paying off loans that all finish around May. Tomorrow is day 1.

Hi there,

You need to initiate a 5 year block on Gamstop. This will fest how serious you are about giving up.

Failing is ok. Don’t beat yourself up too much as you can’t go back in time.

Tomorrow is another day and like you say Day 1.

CJ.

Hello,

I have already signed up to gamstop in the past. Unfortunately I clearly wasn't serious about stopping at the time, becasue I managed to find a way around it. Which I will not discuss, so that I don't give people idea's. Thinking of different ways to put more walls in place. Delete paypal? No.. I use that too much. I'll continue to think.

Day 1 - I'm all reset and ready to go again. Obviously still feel awful from my recent relapse. I've noticed I can go around 5 days and they the weekend hits and I assume I'm 'allowed' to treat myself and have a little bet. Which never EVER turns out to be little.I guess I'll just keep updating everyday. On Wednesday I'm going to get a close friend to create a restriction block on my iphone. Then it is literally impossible to gamble on my phone unless I get the code. Which I won't. This will be a massive help. That will be another layer added to the walls. This will really help, I should of done this last week like I said I was going to, but honestly, I forgot about it. All comments appreciated.

Can you block your bank card? I block my card using my security key (HSBC). I leave the security key in work so I cannot unblock the card. I make sure i have enough cash on me.

Day 2 - Onto the second day, read some more of Alen's book. I'm only about 20% through but it seems to be quite repetitive. I'm going to continue reading anyway. Relatively quiet at work so I've had time to think, which isn't always a good thing. But I know that I cannot gamble, the money is gone, there is no quick fix, no quick way to recover. The only way to recover is to do the time gamble free, my financial situation will improve, I will pay off my loans. I will be back on track.. Time.. The only way I can do this is to do the time. The rest of February, March, April and then May.. Restrictions on my phone are being put in place tomorrow. Good news. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hello Revenant,

I am good thank you, I hope you are well too. Yes - We can all help each other to achieve our goals and in the end we will defeat our gambling problems. I want you to take all the steps that I have if you are ready to stop gambling. Sign up to GAMSTOP, for years. Deelte all gambling apps etc. We can all do this together. Maybe start your own diary and keep track of your progress everyday, like me.

Hello,

Yes I also don't think about the value of money when gambling. Could easily lose 3 figure's £££ in under an hour, but when it comes to paying an extra £2 for shipping on something, I'll act like I'm being ripped off. Please take the necessary steps my friend. In my opinion if you don't sign up to GamStop then you dont really want to stop. If you're serious about stopping then sign up to Gamstop. Look forward to reading your diary.

Day 3 - Feels like the day's are going by so slowly. The first week is going to be the hardest. Then I assume I will begin to get the hang of it. Not that I've gone 7 days gf for a while, so I wouldn't know... But now is the time that I am going to do it. I'm pretty sure I have a minor form of OCD, which I think does affect my gambling a little bit. If I get a spam email, text or anything like that, I just get annoyed. Cleaning tends to help me. It makes me feel like I'm physically doing something to give myself a fresh start. This is very hard to explain and its likely nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about.

Anyway.. Day 3, plodding along. I'm going out this weekend and next weekend. Luckily I have the money to do so. All money spending spreadsheets are looking OK. I've got a long way till May. It'll be worth it. I'm putting the restriction code on my phone today. Should feel better after thats been done. Today I will not Gamble.

Day 4 - Another day has passed without gambling.. Success. Restrictions haven't been tested as I haven't even tried logging in to a gambling site or anything. But the blocks are there just incase. Today will be another gamble free day.

Day 5 - Had a bad day yesterday. Got a £150 car fine. Not good at all. I've paid the money and am trying to forget about it. If it happened last week I probably would of gambled to try and make the money. This week I am a different person. I didn't gamble. I made a choice, the right choice. Got a busy weekend so probably wont update lots. Good luck everyone.
