Keep up the good job buddy ! You're doing great ! And thank you for sharing your experience about your pattern on gambling . I'm more aware now that I could potentially face the same problem if I'm not careful . But I must admit last night i thought i was playing roulette and won big , I was so upset and disgusted of myself that I let the demon beat me but luckily it was just a " dream " I mean a " nightmare " Let's beat this demon !

I have read in a few diaries how ex gamblers are dreaming about gambling (inc myself) . Really weird as hell.

Must be demonic.

Thought I'd add, another gambling pattern I have seen is where you keep on winning (in my case could never get beyond the 200 pound in winning mark), then go on a crazy losing run where even the favourites lose and lose all of the winnings + your own money. The bookies then fleece you slowly, without you realising how much you have lost until you get to my point. I calculated that in 1.6 years, I have lost about 18k, bulk of my salary over that period.

I've been there darkhouse and I know what you mean buddy . I think they manipulate the machines. Although I never played on the bookies I think it's the same online ... I hope you're doing well today .

Day 17

No urges to gamble and will not gamble. The first week is the hardest. Definently becomes easier as time goes on. Not gambling is a state of mind.

Day 18

No urges to gamble. Keeping a recovery diary + the feedback here is helping a lot.

This is becoming easier and easier to do, but at the same time I know I can't become complacent. Looked at my bank balance, very depressing to see how I broke I am.

Day 19

No gambling. Very depressed in my personal life, I remember how in the past when I got into this state I gambled as a form of escapism.

Day 21 ( 3 weeks )

no gambling. Longest now I have been gamble free. Just wish I was out of debt. It's amazing what you can do with will power alone.

Well done on 3 weeks Dark Horse! Keep racking those days up. Every day you're not gamblingis a day where you're saving money and getting your life back together again.

I'm a day behind you.

It is all a state of mind, like anything really. Not going to knock GA counselling, but if your heart is not in stopping you will not stop which is why willpower works; I was half hearted about it before until the penny dropped. With that said, I do think that keeping a recovery diary helps a lot, and having community support so thank you guys.

Feel free to, don't worry.

You have to take one day at a time, and it is hard at first but gets easier especially after the first week. Do not watch sports, or check the odds. Finally - keep telling yourself that you can't win money gambling, and believe it.
