Hi Lethe,

I self excluded from all sites. I did struggle with a couple, they do like to make it difficult. Had time to spare though, so persevered. Makes me angry that some make it such a battle. I did have a friend put code on my iPhone for sites over 18, but it didn't stop anything..blocked me on stupid things like holiday sites etc.

Sars..HUGE WELL DONE! Day 37! Can't wait to get there. Day 5 for me and I'm managing not too bad. Today is another test though, time on my own is a struggle.

Made a jar of activities for kids during holidays at weekend. So today we will be "games day" so should keep me busy and keep them off there Xbox/iPad etc. Win win for us all!!

Hi Gaily

Well done on joining the site and starting a diary and well done on getting to day 5. I have the same problem with online slots. I've gambled in other forms before but find that slots are a whole other level of addiction. They are designed to be addictive which is evil really. Constantly chasing bonuses that don't come until you're hundreds down and then when you get them they don't even get you back to where you were when you started. My last spell on slots I did £500 without a bonus or decent win. Pathetic!

You did so well doing 3 years gamble free, this must serve as positivity that you can live without gambling. Keep posting and enjoying life

Regards

James

Thanks for commenting James,

Your so right, they are evil. They tempt us with bonuses that never come, then when they do, their wagering never allows you to withdraw. Another thing is withdrawals...I had one site only allow so much to withdraw and then only 1 withdrawal in a certain period of time. A gambler is not gonna wait that long. They've won (or they want us to think we have) so what do we do...reverse and chase an even bigger win. Unfortunately it never comes and before you know it, you've lost it all anyway.

There's only one winner in gambling and it's certainly not us!

Keep up good work James, we can get out this mess..one day at a time and these days are GF!

Well done on another day. It's a disgrace when you read people's stories and there all so similar. when you do actually win the odds are still against you to ever see it in your bank. Pending withdrawals to me may as well have been losses in the 1st place. Something that's realy bugging me at the minute is the amount of TV adverts promoting sites, surely at some point this will be governed better to stop more people falling for this. Any way all the best and keep it up.

Could not agree more Adam,

Ads are awful. Every second one is bingo/slots!! Always ending with "please gamble responsibly" Can you ever gamble responsibly?? To me, it's like cigarettes/drugs/alcohol...it's bad for your health, costs a fortune and destroys your life!!

Day 6..!!

Another one, kept busy. Made salt dough, painting. Such great fun but tinged with sadness and guilt. My kids have missed out on so much with my addiction.

Full intention of making sure this NEVER happens again.

GF and winning the most I ever have!! Happy and content!

Day 8!!

I've made it over a week!! Not going to lie, I've had a few urges last couple days. But been successful in refraining. Been occupied with kids and grandson. Just gotta look at them and remember I'm not just doing this for myself. My gambling has an effect on everyone around me!

One little spin and I know I'll be right back again.

What doesn't help is the constant ads, radio, tv, online. Gambling is an addiction, just like alcohol, once you get that high, you want more, it takes you away from your everyday life, blocks things out, but grips you so hard.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Another busy day ahead, off to visit family!

Stay strong and GF!

Hi Gaily,

When I see those gambling ads now I picture the owners and shareholders of those sites swanning around in fancy cars and going to fancy locations on the backs of desperate addicts like me. It turns my stomach rather than makes me want to gamble. And those bingo ads where they are all pals getting together - nothing like the reality of problem gambling.

Well done on your progress x
