My gambling Counsellor and I are working on cutting down my gambling, since I flat out will not yet admit that I have to quit ;I just can't face the thought ...the gambling specialist said it is good that I am at least honest with her about this,OK if I work on cutting down and abstaining for certain periods of time.because I have to do many of the same things that I would do if I was quitting. And she and I are both hopeful that during the process I may change my thoughts and be more willing to quit. I am open to this I am just not there yet in my heart and I just believe in being honest or no one can help me if I am not honest. Goals for cutting down or temporarily taking a break that are the same as goals for quitting are: Avoid going at certain trigger times, not given to every urge at Cetera, and finding certain ways to block yourself from spending more money than planned. My goal currently to make it through this weekend without gambling as I absolutely cannot afford it right now and definitely need at the minimum a long break from it of several weeks. Which is a long time for me. I get that Michael is a little different than everyone else's but I'm struggling to my counselor said it is OK to work on where I'm at now and try to move towards the quitting eventually. I still could use your guys help and support thank you. And we all could use each other so I am trying to give mine to other people as well.

Day 5...I'm on board if that's ok...resolved last night this is for good, not just a 'break'...if I gamble I cannot stop, so I need not to go to the casino.

Rhonda, join us! You sound serious, you have stopped for 5 days. We motivate each other, and we must not buckle for any reason. This is for life. It means, for example, I am going to post every day (unless I can't get internet access e.g. abroad and out of reach) for life. Welcome aboard Rhoda!

Hi rhoda, yes of course your welcome. We can do this and the more support we have for each other the better.

We do check in and write in our diaries every day and use the chat room as much as possible.

Please join us on our journey. Actually I don't think it's a journey, it's a destination. Last stop being free of this b*****d.

We CAN and we WILL.

Hi KP, you're right, this is a destination because we have ARRIVED at the gambling free stop!

Wow. Talk about a life changing realisation.

Whatever life throws at us, we are NOT gambling again. Ever!

Posting and visiting these forums every day just tops us up - like petrol in a car - and we are helping others too. Every day, we pay our respects to this new destination and keep resolutely strong.

We must not let our guard down for one moment.

Katiecoo, Change, Rhoda, KP. We've arrived! We are never gambling again! We are at our destination. And, looking around, what a place it is. I'm staying; no contest! Especially in your great company. And our great meeting point here. Kindred spirits and friends!

Now I'm not pretending for one minute our battle is over. We are all going to be shot at from time to time. But we have each other's backs. We are NOT going to buckle. This destination needs work to stay there - but we CAN and we WILL. (A great maxim, KP).

Hi KP,

In a few short days, we have 9 members in our group. How many more will we help? This could be seismic. This is our mission, and I know you know this. There has never been a group on here before. We are breaking exciting new ground.

10 days btw, well done mate. We are going to succeed. You know that?
