Hi Russ.
Well done on the half marathon mate. I count it as an achievement when i dip under 30 mins for 5km on the treadmill so 1.47 for the half marathon sounds good to me!
Keep up the good work mate.
Hi Russ... 1.47.... good time, well done!
I hope to do similar at some point this year. Keep on running... S.A 🙂
Cheers curly and sa. No betting thoughts at the moment. I'm even starting not to consider what odds things may be whilst I'm watching a game or football, golf etc. It's all about training your mind out of the habit. I've noticed the firms advertising their services on all the smart phones. It's become so easy to bet these days. I'm thankful that these services were not available to me whilst I was betting. Russ
hello my pal...thanks for looking out for me...other sites are not for myself personally but if you dont mind, can i join your milestone party in a couple weeks time...never a doubt mate 😉
Hi Russ.
Cheers for the post mate.
I took a delivery of a new golf bag, golf shoes and a dozen pro v1's yesterday which can mean only one thing. The golf season is nearly upon us!!
You had better pull your finger out if you are going to lower your handicap beyond mine this summer mate as i'm planning on a big season! I'm not even going to bother trying to match your running times though!
Only a few weeks until you celebrate 1 year gamble free mate and as wp says it has never been in doubt.
A shining example to us all Mr Russ!
Cheers curly and wp. My recovery seems to be taking an almost natural course now. I have become a lot less reliant on these pages in recent weeks, which in turn has taken my mind off gambling. It's different to previous times when I have stopped gambling. I know I won't go back to it. I've read it a few times on these diaries where for some reason the penny finally drops. Life is becoming normal. I'll certainly keep posting. Russ
Like you, I have been stopping myself from posting on these diaries for a bit but this has not stopped me from reading.
We all need to be constantly reminded that gambling in the long term does NOT work. We do have those gambling 'highs' imprinted in our minds and these are the main reasons that people slip in their recovery journeys.
What we really must remember are those numerous gambling 'lows'.
Never again, eh?

Russ1,
Seems you are truly a member of the Gamcare class of 2010. Great to see you strong in recovery, same as many here.
Just thought I'd pop in here after being away for a few weeks. Just a flying visit. Miss the characters on this forum but even happier to see them moving on to their next individual stages in recovery. Everything good with me and coming up on nine months now. Seems like longer most days, other days when I recall stuff it doesn't seem that long ago at all, or when monthly direct debits come out, ouch! Family are all doing good too, and feeling the benefit of me in recovery. Hope your family are all good Russ. Keep up the running and positive life without gambling.
Take care,
Brian
Hi Russ
Thanks for popping in on my diary, great to read how well you are doing!
I thought i had cracked this addiction, but i failed, i know i have to regroup and start again.
Keep up the great work mate, dont get complacent, cos when you f*** up, it hurts - big time.
take care, ands
Hi Russ
Great post on my diary, deffo works for me 100%.
Everytime I see a bookie now ( in fact, this morning), I imagine myself coming out after losing hundreds and crying, with my wife and daughters watching me. WOW.
Shaun
I've heard that there's a big festival on next week? I can't wait. Thursday next week will be a year gamble free. I''m become so much more honest since that day. The relationship with my wife is a million times better. I'm a happy man. The champagne is on ice for next week. It is possible, you have to believe it. Russ
Hi Russ
An early congratulations from me m8.I wouldnt want to miss your big celebration.
Its good to hear that your relationship is lots better and i have to agree with you kid its one of the things that have improved for me.Although is it because we can afford to give them more money lol.
Roll on next thursday Russ the first of many years gamblefree im sure. All the best Jeff.
Well done on nearly a year, keep going, the more people read about your year gambling free, the more they will get inspired.
Shaun
Hi Russ.
Big week coming up for you mate. I'm off to Scotland in the morning and will not be back until Wednesday. I'll be back for your party though mate. Would not miss it for the world.
Keep going big man.
Thanks for the posts. Life carries on as normal for me. The relationship with my wife is excellent and a million miles away from a year ago. I do still get the odd thought....for example I may be listening to the radio and I hear that utd are playing arsenal....my first thought is arsenal look vulnerable after losing to Barcelona in mid week. I have to immediately blast that thought out of my mind. I was in up to my neck this time last year. Never again. Russ
Affected by gambling?
