Many of you will know my story…….10 years of out of control gambling and losses surpassing 250k. Maxed out multiple credit cards, loans, lost redundancy and remortgages. Multiple failed attempts at quitting.

I sometimes wonder how an earth I have not ended up homeless and lost my kids and partner but somehow I am still here fighting this.

I have a date in place of 3 years to become debt free and to put this awful addiction behind me once and for all, I know very well the urge of the devil is only sitting on my shoulder, I feel it every single day.

What hit hard at the weekend was when I was on a walk along the canal, I must have passed 6 tents along the 5 mile stretch where people have been sleeping, having no home, no bed to sleep in, no heating or water. Maybe through their own type of addiction and struggles…….that could easily be myself if I don’t get my head and life sorted out.

So here I am, day 33 and less than 3 years of becoming debt free and moving on with my life. Each day is a struggle but one I must overcome.

Thank you to everyone on here who helps and supports each other. Without you guys it would be a lonely place.

Hi King. So glad to see you are still making inroads to better yours and your family’s future 👏💪🙏.

Are you signed up with Gamstop/Gamban/Moses etc and put gambling blocks on your bank cards? I think by doing this, shows that we really do want to quit and not increase our debt which ultimately we do if these blocks aren’t put in place. If you haven’t already done so, I urge you to have a really good think about it. The difference it makes is huge.

Take care and keep going. It will also be good to keep that vision you had walking along that canal, in your head, as a stark reminder of how life could be if you continue on a downward spiral.

It may also be a good idea to set up a daily diary on here so you can write in it every day, read other diaries and comment in theirs also. All this really does help to keep us motivated and determined to keep going and remain g.f.

Rooting for you 🙏.

Hi King,

I have had a gambling problem for the last 12 years and have always returned to the forum in my lowest moments. I have often read your posts.

Great to hear that you have reached 33 days! I am starting again from the beginning, once more facing debt and regret for what feels like the millionth time.

I urge you to keep going the only way out is to stop. No win is ever going to improve your situation. I have won before, cleared all my debt, and been in a good financial position, only to lose it all again within days and end up back in debt. No win will ever be enough.

Hope you’re feeling positive things will soon start to look up for you both mentally and financially.
