Hi my name is Dave I am a compulsive Gambler.
I like many people did not abstain from gambling or stop gambling from day one of walking in to the recovery program.
No matter when my last bet it was very important to keep going to the meetings.
I am a non religious person yet the recovery program would help me live a much healthier life.
Before my recovery I use to think that I loved gambling and it was the most important exciting thing in my life.
Now after being in recovery for some time I understand that my unhealthy reaction to go and gamble was self destructive and very painful.
I now understand that the recovery program was about me healing the hurt inner child in me.
Sadly the many pains I suffered in my life caused fears in me that I did not understand.
The like minded people in the recovery program and very good counsellors helped me understand that not healing my pains was the path to my inner peace.
The like minded people in the recovery program and very good counsellors helped me understand that living in my fears restricted me from living a full healthy life.
That living in my fears restricted me from having healthy intimacy with myself and with other people.
That after me reducing and facing my fears I would be having healthy intimacy with myself and with other people.
My reduction of my fears would help me live a much more productive life.
I use to think that if I got a lot of money would make me feel happy and successful in my self.
Money was never going to heal my pains.
Money was never going to make me feel like I was successful in my self.
The recovery program was going to help me help myself become healthier.
The recovery program was going to help me fulfill my needs in healthy ways.
The recovery program was going to help me fulfill my wants in healthy ways.
The recovery program was going to help me fulfill my goals in healthy ways.
The recovery program was going to help me get more honest with myself.
I use to read the words humbling I use to think it was about belittling myself.
Now I understand that humbling myself was about making myself feel an equal to all people in the recovery program.
How much do I want to live a much healthier life today.
How much time and effort am I willing to invest in to myself today.
Healing Love and Peace to everyone.
