Blondie I wanted to thank you for your words "I've done something amazing today, I've chosen not to gamble" these words have stuck inside my mind like glue and have really pushed me forward and I've been repeating them over and over until the moment before I fall asleep. I'm only on day 4 gamble free and I know I have a long way to go but you have given me hope. So thank you again and a very merry christmas to you.

Had a wonderful christmas and boxing day with the people i love most in the world, mum has been here since christmas eve and its been great having her here. Eaten far to much but then thats what happens at christmas.
No gambling, no thoughts, no urges, why would i do that I have far to much to lose, Im past the 8 month gamble free mark now and feeling extremly proud of what i have acheived. Its been hard work at times but i have gained so much and i have my holiday to start 2013 the way i intent to finish it, happy, content and gamble free.
Only 4 days im so excited now, havent packed a case or anything yet , might just throw the lot in and iron when i get there lol..
Hope everyone had a fantastic time, thank you for all the posts

Thanks for posting on my diary. You are very generous with your time as regards supporting other people, your name always crops up on the front page. I'm happy for you that your rehabilitation has been successful so far.
Happy New Year!
I really like this, I will not give gambling anymore of my precious time.
Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day.
Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every penny, of course?
Each of us has such a bank. It's name is TIME.
Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose.
It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against "tomorrow."
You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!
The clock is running!! Make the most of today.
To realise the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realise the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
To realise the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realise the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realise the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who just missed a train.
To realise the value of ONE SECOND, ask someone who just avoided an accident.
To realise the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal at the Olympics.
Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with. And remember time waits for no one.
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why its called the present
Hi blondie
Thank you for your kind words. I realised in the aftermath of gambling, that I don't truly understand this addiction or even myself. Perhaps until I do a bit of soul searching I will never truly kick this habit. It's like a roller coaster life and I need to find a way not to reach to gambling when I'm feeling low. Well I'm rambling. Hope your well

Hi Blondie,
Not long until those well deserved hols!
I know how long you have been looking forward to them and what the location means to you so have a great time you really deserve it.
In just a few short months you have turned your life around and although each day is a new day, just for today you are wonderful and I salute you.

Hi Blondie
You deserve all the happiness and peace that you've gained. I don't need to tell you to "enjoy your hol" cos I'm certain you'll make the most of every single minute.
A wee practical thing that may help with the "panic" if it persists :

I use these in work and they do seem to be effective.
