The Cheltenham Festival starts today and lasts until Friday. I am going to avoid the bookmakers, but I may listen/watch a couple of the bigger races on the radio/television. It is always an exciting few days and I believe that excitement can be enjoyed without financial involvement. After 130 days without gambling, I am not going to return to Day 1. Besides, I have the necessary blocks in place and I am confident I can get through this week without placing a bet. Having said that, I am aware that I must not get complacent. I am on my guard.

I followed several of the races at Cheltenham today. However, I did not place any bets. I simply enjoyed the racing as a spectator. I think this approach can work for the big races but, as I have said before, the usual midweek trashy handicaps are just there for the sake of betting as they do not represent any real sporting interest. I am looking forward to reaching twenty weeks without a bet in the near future.

Hi Pelle. Good to hear this is working for you. Just please be careful, we are one bet away from being back to square one. How did you feel when any of the horses you fancied came in, I know that could ignite something in me that could place me one step closer to placing a bet.

Keep strong and keep focused

Pat

I have got through this year's Cheltenham Festival without placing any bets and that is significant for me. Now looking forward to getting through the rest of this month. Going to a South American guitar concert at the Venezuelan Embassy this evening with my wife and some friends. Trying to make the most of the remaining evenings before our baby is born.

We had a builder round for 10 hours today and he will return for another 10 hours of hard labour tomorrow. Trying to restructure our flat before the baby arrives. Counting down the days now. Just watched a load of videos on One Born Every Minute. Really quite apprehensive now.
