Gd morning, congrats on your new edition,-they worry the s**t out of ya don't they,-our first babe had the same problem, wouldn't latch on to the breast, and my missus found expressing the milk very painfull,we had to use formula in the end,- a comfort cow and gate, which is gentler for the babe and is good for weight gain, and we got it on subscription.

All will be fine mate, babies are very resilient. Well done on the gambling front, there is so much more to life as you've found out.

Sounds like your little 'un is going to keep you busy and that can only be a very good thing for your and your family.

Stay well, well away from the evil world which we call gambling and your family will really love you for this.

Stay strong this weekend.

Hope your new life isn't too sleepless. Have you got to the spare room stage yet?

I apologise for the delay in updating my diary. The last few days have been hectic with various family members staying in our already-tiny flat. The whole place is a mess of suitcases, baby clothes, laundry etc etc. Today was my first day back at work following my paternity leave. I achieved very little apart from checking and sending emails and catching up on administrative tasks. My son is doing well and is keeping his feed down at last. He got quite dehydrated in the first week and lost a lot of weight, but he is back on track now and is feeding properly. Breast-feeding certainly is a challenge, but my parents bought us an electric breast pump and, along with the sterilising equipment, I am now able to do some bottle feeding, which takes some of the burden off my wife whilst making me feel a bit more useful.

I am pleased to say that I have not gambled over the last few days and, although I watched the Grand National on the television, I did not feel tempted to place a bet. In fact, I do not think it is a good betting proposition: too many horses, too many tricky fences, too many risks. It is a race to be watched. I am aware that the National Hunt season has now finished and that flat racing season is underway, but I am not tempted. However, I am on my guard at all times. There are hundreds of bookies in Central London and I cannot exclude myself from all of them so I just have to be careful and not carry cash or cards with me if I go out for a walk at lunchtime. I am excluded online and my accounts were terminated last year so no problems there. I am looking forward to smashing through the 6-month barrier at the start of May, which will be an important milestone. Debt is still hanging around my neck and my overdraft is in heavy use at the moment due to buying baby clothes, nappies, a baby bath, a microwave, sterilising equipment etc etc. However, had I continued to gamble since I stopped last November, I would have been in a much, much, much worse financial mess. I dread to think what would have happened: the stakes would have got higher and higher while the loan and credit card debts got bigger and bigger; I would have got sick and stressed; and my family life would have been a disaster.
