Hi Dan and cheers for passing through my diary with your supportive comments and a big well done on your 150 days gambling free... keep going amd sure you will. Keep passing through the forum if only to read.. it helps to remind oneself especially when ones own personal misery fades into history. I once went for a 1000 days plus gambling free only then to gamble again as if the time in between hadn't happened. Take heed from my experince and like you say life is better without gambling. Regards.. S.A 🙂

Thanks s.a., I was reading on the forums a lot around Christmas time and there are sadly many examples of periods of abstinence that are followed by bigger losses than ever before, I really am determined to never gamble again, but I know that I have to continuously look for my trigger points. Then deal with the inevitable thoughts.

Just been having a good read through your diary Dan, not read everything but all the same read a lot and when i got to the end to see you still hadn't gambled and you had managed 150 days of not gambling. Its quite inspiring to me. Very well done to you, and best wishes with everything else in your life.

Keith

Thanks for posting...

more opportunities and excuses to gamble but I continue to choose not to.

Life is better without gambling, much, much better

Debt is coming down, slowly but I'm finally chipping away at it, wish Id actually stopped years ago, I'd be comparatively wealthy now!

Thanks, as always for the posts.

Glad to report still no gambling.

have just seen a dream house in our dream location, needs loads of work - which is something I'd love to do....

The size is perfect, the location is perfect, it's one of those properties that you just both agree on....

Realistically we can afford the required mortgage repayments, even allowing for a good budget to do the required work......

the downside? - oh yes, that's it, because of my gambling, we have a massive debt- no savings, in other words, no money for the expense of moving, no money for the 11% deposit required.

Gutted, absolutely gutted, for me I guess I'm used to letting myself down but I really don't like letting my wife down.

I wish I'd never gambled, I wish I had at least stopped sooner.

Can't change that though, all I can do now is never go back to gambling....

sorry for rambling, just feeling a tad peeved with myself!!!! (and rightly so!!)

Hi wp, thanks for the thought.... it's a dead end though, the other half would never go down that route, especially not with my recent (dec 10) confession.

Ive been extremely lucky that she has stood by me, so I wont pressure her to take what she sees as risk with money...

four years or so without a gamble and I may just be able to revisit my dream..... not a bad aim to go for

take care all

Hi Dan.

Thanks for popping by my diary. It's great to see you still going so well. Hold onto that dream mate as you will get there in the end if you continue as you are.

All the best mate.

day number...... oh I don't know and am not too bothered really. I had a great day yesterday, with two bits of very positive news. Still four main things in my life that are challenging at the moment, the main one being finances but even that is moving in the right direction. although still over £30k in debt, by April 2012, I should be down to around the £20k mark, which is debt on fairly low interest and lomng term, lower repayments, amazing to think just how quickly I could gambled that £41k debt I reached compared to how long it takes to repay it all...

still it was early december 2010 that I last gambled so very pleased with progress so far....
