Hi Lmm 🙂

I had a really nice day today, my parents came over to look after Maddison. Altho I kept calling to check on her every hour lol ... what am I like? Me and my bf went out for lunch and then we went to the cinema, the film was ok. But it was nice just to spend some time 2gether. It really cheered me up, think I needed that and no fruit machines 🙂 I am feeling really positive and strong again. I am hoping my difficult phase as now passed 🙂 I hope everyone is doing well 🙂

Thanks for all your kind words and support.

I am just thinking, people on here write about being in "recovery" ( I hate that word tbh). How long r we in "recovery" 4? Is it 4ever? or is there a time when we will not have to worry or be careful again?

Just a thought 🙂

Hi

Your not in recovery, just not gambling a day at a time.

Hey Char

That's a really interesting question and one that I've thought a lot about in the last couple of months. I hate the idea of being 'in recovery' for the rest of my life.

However, given that I relapsed (spectacularly, I might add), the last time I tried to give up, I don't think, no I'm pretty sure, that I could never again gamble with any control.

Therefore, I think that 'recovered' in my mind, is being able to take it or leave it - to be like non gamblers, to be able to control it. Can a compulsive gambler ever regain control? I'm not sure they can.

That's my view anyway, so therefore, even though I hate the term too, I think I will always be in recovery.

But hey, it's not such a bad thing! 🙂
