So after many years of gambling lossing £10,000's relapsing 10s of times im putting my first recovery diary on here following my diccision to self exclude myself from every online betting company and every bookies in my local erea, i believe that this is the end of gambling for me and i hope i can look back at this date a feel possitive, in my life gambling has caused me to be in debts, commit crime, lose the trust from the people who once cared about me, lost any self confidence and worthwile, lost my job, lost my career, caused me to drink 1ltr of vodka every day, caused me severse mental health problems where i was literally on the brink of being institutionalised, was also on the brink of taking my life a few times, just to name a few.

Hi Darren,

Welcome to the Recovery Diaries section, and, having seen you post around the site over the last few days, delighted that you have started a thread, your launchpad, to a new, gambling-free, you.

I notice you're two days in and - congratulations, you are now officially an ex-gambler. You are Gamble Free! All you need to do is stay gamble free, and, every day, remind yourself you're free from all this c**P - you don't have to gamble, and won't gamble any more.

In fact, picture the gambling devil on your shoulder. What do you think of him, this devil that's brought you so much misery? Exactly.

You've been feeding him for all these years and he needs taking down a peg or two. Time to starve him, I would say. He's still moaning and whining: "I want to bet..." but don't give him the pleasure. Starve him, and he'll soon really start to shut up. It'll take a while, but all the while, you are gambling-free. Free is the key word, free of this nonsense. Willpower to stop? No, it's not about will power, this, Darren. It's about you simply knowing that you're free and don't need this c**P any more; I'm with you all the way on that one!

I hope this helps and do keep posting mate. You've drawn a line in the sand - your future starts NOW and here's to a future where you're choosing LIFE over misery. *That* is what I call a result!
