Thank you mr brightside for your support and encouragement on my diary.

Well done with your 50 day abstinence as well, this is the longest I've gone without gambling and am finally starting to see past 1 day.

Without becoming complacent looking forward to our next milestone.

Your doing an amazing job on here x

Hey, mr B. Your buddy here that has been slightly cr** at posting and checking in. No excuses apart from running a business, buying a house and trying to make up time with my partner...

First counselling today, too. Oopph!

Fabulous weekly report, by the way and strange that you use the term soldiers, I was in the army for 19 years!!

I got my partner to read your update and pretty sure she was moved. Thanks, again Buddy and will set check in alarm, as you suggest! Hahahaha.x

Thanks for all the notes of encouragement everyone - I guess I've kinda neglected my own diary for the last while - although maybe that's a good sign? Not complacent in the least, but just focussing on the good things and the things that make me feel better and that are helping.

I had a really interesting counseling session on Monday - spoke with the psychologist about addiction and compulsion and he gave me a really powerful model to consider - if you fancy looking at it (and I know that many of you are readers and intellectuals - I'm not, so if I can understand it then everyone can!!) - Google "The Transtheoretical Model (Stages of Change)" - very interesting indeed!! Has given me a lot of food for thought in terms of keeping the guard up (Rainman, have you dropped that signature in favor of rock solid, if so mate I'm nicking it!!).

So, today is my 60th day free of giving money I don't have to someone I don't know.........with the transaction causing me to hate myself. I am not that person any more. I am Mr Brightside.

I can't express enough thanks to this site and the people on it for the difference it has made in my recovery and my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hi Mr B,

Thanks for dropping by tonight, your kind words and ongoing efforts with the thread are greatly appreciated and I am proud to call you a friend.

As much as I wish my 6month milestone has been hit I'm not quite there yet m8, the 12th is my marker which I will hit.

How are you doing? You put so much effort into the thread I just hope you have time to focus on you because my friend this is important.

I too would love for all of us to get together and celebrate our achievements in style, as long as you can all keep up with Glasgow lad lol.

Be well Mr B and god bless you and yours.

Derek 🙂

Hi Mr B, Thanks for dropping by my diary. Your right about the money, it's irrelevant and there are more important things in life to care about. Thanks for a great post on the Clean for 14 thread once again.

I'm also a Scottish "quine", looking forward to the meet in Jan 15 where we will all be celebrating our abstinence. Gives the group even more of an incentive to stay away from the "dark side".

I think you might just catch up with me on cc I just don't seem to be getting anywhere with it, hardest one for me yet lol .

Take care x

Thanks for all the lovely posts guys - really really appreciated - have been unusually frustrated with the forum the last couple of days but need to get the head down and ensure I first and foremost stay on track in my own journey before investing in the journeys of others.

Fit like BBS? Lol!! L430 on cc - I'm catching!!

I wouldn't even begin to attempt to try any drinking comps with any of you lot - I may need my liver to help pay off some of my debt - lol!! January 15th sounds good though eh? We could always have a Scottish members get together though before that - we may need our passports to get down south next year if wee 'lec gets his way eh?

So I'm in Day 66 of the journey. I am still out of my cage and I am doing just fine........I ain't going to be down and I still want it all....... But not if it involves gambling. I have also realised that other people need to look after their own cages - they have their own responsibilities to themselves in the same way as I have mine. I cannot influence what I can't influence, but I'd hurt more if I didn't try - no regrets though.

Rambles of a mad man are over for another night!!

Well almost......

Dear Diary,

Sorry for neglecting you a bit recently - you are the most important tool for me to speak my mind and I thank you for that!!

Mr Brightside

Evening Mr b,

Thanks for dropping in, no matter where we are in recovery a welldone goes a long way. I'm glad your counselling sessions are going well, I found the 2 I had were useful..... reinforce what we already know. I sent an email to let my counsellor know my progress but she already knew I'd be where I am.

I 2 have found this week tough with the forum, Sunday was tough just like any change in routine I suppose. All we can do is our best.

Would be good to meet up sometime chum, more than happy to exchange details ifyou know how its safely done on the site?

I am confident you will reach all the milestones/targets you aim at m8 because you now have a taste for how good life can be without a punt!

Keep smiling and do what your doing bud.

Derek 🙂

Morning all,

Just a quick 'dear diary' to say........

It's day 69, I'm clean, strong, happy and blessed.

I'm also very thankful for a core of people on this site..........it's you (and the challenge commitment) that have kept me here. I'm not going to name you in fear of offending, but if you have posted words on encouragement on my diary in the last while then you've played a significant part.

When I lay my head on my pillow tomorrow night, celebrating being 10 weeks free of gambling, I will say my prayers and give thanks for the wonderful people in my life.

Some awesome Killers lyrics for today!

'I never really gave up on

Breakin' out of this two-star town

I got the green light

I got a little fight

I'm gonna turn this thing around'

Still applies!

Mr B
