You seem to be happy with the balance you have right now, and I hope this continues to be the case.
Whatever happens in the future, you have made a positive change in your life this far and that must feel great!
Take care,

"The main thing I need to deal with now is how to fill time better"
Thats all you have ever needed to concentrate on captain!
If you put the same amount of effort in to that, instead of gambling or thinking about gambling you would feel and have a much better life.
Just try being honest with yourself instead of using your made up phrases 'advanced' & 'random' to somehow justify what you do each week... you are kidding no one but yourself. All gambling is advanced and what you do IS gambling, end of.
If you stopped lying to yourself... well, there would simply be no need to continue to lie to colleagues, old friends etc. would there? Life with all these lies in is not being truthful to the 'real' you. YOU ARE WORTH MORE.
Captain you deserve a better life. You wont 'win' your troubles & debts away... That takes commitment and hard work from you in the real world, not a gambling fantasy.
You deserve real happiness Captain... give yourself a real chance.... What are you so frightened of?
Jackie

Day 51
Maybe I am losing my way a little on here. My recovery is going well, no sign of lapsing, however when I started on here I posted every day and never missed chat.
Now I'm starting to think if I post every day it will just be the same as the previous week so dont want to just post repetitive stuff and I am in chat a bit less these days too. Maybe that is just natural progression. Maybe it is a good thing. Maybe it is just a phase. We'll see.
Captain,it is a natural progression, and it's actually a very good sign :),i still feel we need to post fairly often (keeps us on track, whatever the chosen track is),i imagine over time it develops more into a case of supporting newer "members" rather than updating our own diaries as much.Glad to see you are still refraining from RG.
Seano.
Hello C,
Yes...less is more...and I think you are doing really well. This gambling addiction lark is a terror. We think we have it licked....things are calm and then it comes back with a vengeance. It's addiction I guess. Please have a look at Jac's opening post of her diary about addiction.
I, personally, have been pretty much clean for nearly a year now C. I have had 3 diaries, used chat...sometimes constantly, other times randomly. At times netline has been an absolute must. I did whatever it took to change.
Your diary is here to help you do whatever it takes to help you to recover from gambling addiction. If you repeat yourself, so what......if it helps you then just do it.
You have done well to control your gambling C. I would love to be Captain Sensible Gambling.....but I am too out of control...bit jealous actually 🙂
Keep posting when it suits....pop into chat when it suits.....and look after yourself and your recovery.....suits you Sir!
You need to think about getting yourself a better phone C.....you are letting the side down!

Day 52
Payday so defo worth a post.
Last months remaining money ( first time I can use that phrase for a while ) plus a withdrawal today allow me to pay off 1 short term debt. I walk into the bookmakers at lunchtime with a wad of cash, read the paper and walk out again without any inclination to bet.
I have 2 more short term debts that will be paid off in next couple of months if I can keep up my recovery as I have for last 7 weeks.
I then have 4 medium term debts and 3 long term debts. I am obviously having to pay towards all of them. Consolidation tactics have happened more times than I care to remember and is not now an option. I must just attack my debts one by one. Clearing the other short term ones will be the first hurdle.
Hello,
I remember you said you had a cheapie pay as you go phone. Now you have a bit of spare wonga you could buy a nice one.....treat yourself for your success over the past few weeks. Don't all blokes like nice phones...gadgets and all that! Good deals on 02 contracts.....nice phone and cash back too...24 month contract.
It is interesting that we are thinking about working through clearing debts....I always go into too much detail on my diary but hey ho that's what makes this site so brill...we are all so different.
You are doing this recovery your way and it's working just fine. I am happy for you C.

Captain
Over 50 days and payday yippeee, double celebration.Im guessing it feels good to have money left kid.Of course it does.Like Jas says treay yourself m8 50 days is a good milestone .All the best Jeff.
Hi Captain,
Good to see you sticking to your recovery plan mate. I'm well impressed that you have the strength to go in the bookies and not have a random bet on the virtual racing. I'm assuming they still have virtual racing? It's been that long since i have been in a betting shop i wouldn't know!
I'm feeling a little like you at the moment in that i am avoiding posting every day. That said i do know that when i last took a few days out from here i ended up having a bet so it is important to keep an eye in. Well certainly for me anyway.
Keep it going mate.
Affected by gambling?
