Capt

Just my tuppence worth!

Feel you have bigger issues currently, than to argue over the title of your diary? Maybe just put it back to what it was? Unless you feel the issue is such a matter of "principle" you are adamant not to?

Just a thought.

RayG

ps agree fully with DaveP, if fellow posters are so upset by this diary, then don't read it! (edited 24th as previously referred to DaveP as Paul) . Apologies for any confusion caused.

Thanks for the post on my diary Captain,i have said to you before that i don't believe any one on this forum wants you to fail, and i'm certain that is still the case, and that includes those people who you believe want to see you "fall on your sword" so to speak....they are all good people Captain who are only trying to help you ,and to try to offer you advice from a perspective that is different to yours. And it doesn't need to be said that there perspective is based on very hard learned lessons!!!,as the football season gets ever closer you are clearly relieved as you see this as the time for you to gain control over your gambling,i hope you can,and i also hope that you take some time to think about how you will deal with things differently come next May?,it would be horrible for the same scenario to repeat itself again.

Seano.

Hi Captain

I was just having a read of the paper and come to a certain page you came into my head straight away. Now this isnt really advice its just a thought that come to me.From what i read on your diary and what you write on others makes me believe you think that your knowledge of football shouldnt be wasted and maybe you can get financial gain from gambling through it.

Which brings me kid to fantasy football.

No outlay and a mega ammount of money to be gained (is this gambling? i dont know )

I myself would say to gamble you would have to stake something on the outcome. But saying this i will not be doing it as it could be a massive trigger.

As you have decided to do certain bets anyway it may not be a trigger for you.Just a thought kid and it would give you a chance to test your knowledge for free.Hope this helps Jeff.

Multi tasking by reading some diaries on here and tracking football scores as well.

Good to know that the football will be my only bet this weekend and next bet next Saturday.

No inclination to bet on anything else whatsoever.

This was posted on another thread......."What has paul said on this thread....seems to be about invisible as you rayg..where's your diary then. for all we know you could be the captain in disguise or a family member as this diary alone seems of great interest to you and you dont seem interested in many other diaries ???"

Didn't realise that we might be related or indeed that we are one and the same person??? Lucky you!!!

Hi Captain,

Had to go back to the middle of the third page to find this one!

Let us know how you are getting on mate. Hope you are managing to steer clear of all that virtual bo!!ocks.

How do you assess Everton's chances for the new season. I think top 4 is a real possibility.

All the best mate.

Hey Captain,

I confess I read your diary, but I mainly don't post on here as it can get slightly heated from time to time.I wish I could succeed with your approach, as I used to enjoy the sports betting side of it, until the video poker snagged my attnetion.

All the best mate, though I hope I don't succumb into any gambling at all.

Cheers

Ryan

The last week has been very difficult due to a personal non-gambling issue but I have got through it unscathed with no Random gambling. Last bet was on football last Saturday, placed bet on Football today. Last random bet was over 3 weeks ago.

Every lunchtime this week I have just walked without allowing myself to be tempted. Every evening I have driven past the 2 bookmakers on my route home without stopping. Of course there is a bit of me that wants to get involved but I have trained my brain again to think Sports Only and in fact Football only like I did successfully earlier in the year.

About 3 years ago I told my family of my compulsive gambling ways. I know this has helped for others but I will always regret doing so as I have now become isolated with relationships damaged for good.

Last night I told my best mate everything. He is a gambler too but was absolutely shocked and in disbelief. He thought I was just like him with good days and weeks and bad and overall in control. He has never borrowed money to gamble and never left anything unpaid due to gambling. He will still be my best mate, that wont change, but what it proved to me is that the only people who understand CGs are other CGs, not even just other gamblers.

My experience of counselling a while back was like this as well - they will try and understand, have sympathy with you, offer you advice or whatever, but they havent been there and felt it so they just dont get it.

P.S. - Leedso - thanks for post, particularly at 4.00am! Couldnt find your diary to post back on..

Capt

Good to hear from you. Have been looking out for you on Chat this week. Thought you might be on holiday or had your head buried in pre-season football form!

Sorry to hear that you have had an issue this week. But maybe a positive in that you got through it and even reinforced your strategy of tackling your cg by "tempting" yourself?

Found your comments about counsellors very interesting. Have raised the question before on Chat as to if there are professional cg counsellors whom also have had a gambling addiction in the past. But I think confidentiality issues prevents this being disclosed(?) Might even be that if someone has had a gambling problem in the past. Then they are precluded from doing cg counselling on the basis that they will never be cured?

On a lighter note. Have opened a new diary and wish to offer you a cordial invitation to attend. Knowing you are a non-drinker I have ensured that there will be a large selection of non-alcholic beverages!

All the best

RayG

I go into the bookmakers to collect my winnings from the football.

While I am waiting a dog race is running. I cant help checking the form. The 7/4 favourite looks good. I dont bet it. I know one random bet will just put me back on the slippery slope. The dog wins. I dont care.

I am back in the 'football only' zone. It is a great place to be. I am determined to stay there for the whole season. I have never done a whole season before. I will do it this time.

Bit of deja vu from yesterday. In to bet the midweek football, a dog race is on. The 5/4 favourite looks certain. Again I dont bet it. Again it wins. These are tests being sent to try and lure me back into random gambling. I am passing the tests.

Capt

Good to talk with you tonight and pleased to see you back on top form! I for one appreciate your sense of humour and that of G. Mine (if it exists!) has unfortunately got me into trouble a few times in recent weeks on chat. It is a difficult one for me, as "humour" helps me try to deal with the S**t position I am currently currently in. Almost like a release mechanism. But there is also a very serious side to me, which I am certain there is to you. I am starting to get the impression that using humour on chat is frowned upon? Do you think I am I being a bit to sensitive?!

Thanks

RayG

ps I fully realise that Chat is there first and foremost to help with gambling problems and that posters issues take precedent over humorous posts.

Not long until the big kick off mate. Good to see you swerving the random and the virtual.

Keep strong pal.
