Hey Alex,

Hang in there, you've done extremely well throughout the year. It's a tuff addiction we all have, and it's something will be working on our whole life, knowing were compulsive gamblers. Thank-you for all your support to everyone, I got your back! Congrats on all your hard work, and keep on keeping! Have a very Merry Christmas!

Your friend,

Chicagoguy

Thanks for all the supportive messages over the Christmas period. I'm doing very well at the moment. Looking forward to the new year and the challenges and rewards this will bring. A gamble free year will be nice and do-able, I like to believe. Always on my guard, of course, but it can be achieved.

Every day I haven't gamble though, is a blessing though, and as I only gambled twice this year, many blessings have come my way - self control strengthened, the will to defeat this and move on. I feel glad and happy. Not fazed by the slips, I move on, gamble free. Life is so much better without the gambling bug, we need to appreciate that.

There was a time when I was lost in it. Now I can say, those days are gone and I'm a better person for it.

Wish everyone the best for the year ahead.

-Alex

Hi Alex

Really pleased to hear that you are doing so well again and back to being completely focused on your goals. I believe that we have both done really well this year and compared to some, one or two slips is not a back thing. I believe that we have both learnt from these slips and as you said, it can definitely help in some ways - for me, that slip has really helped me to highlight what my high risk situations are and more importantly, how to manage them and not cave in. You really do feel so much better once you have been able to manage them without giving in to gambling and "surf the urge" so to speak.

I have had a lovely peaceful and calm Christmas without having to deal with the stresses that gambling definitely brings.

I will shortly be reaching my year mark, minus my lapse. I am considering when I get to 18th Jan, I may go from there, counting 12 months and so forth. I feel that this date was so significant for me as this really was my "rock bottom" and I think I would rather remember this date as opposed to my slip up date - that date for me just acts as a reminder of when I lapsed, rather than 18th Jan, when I decided that enough was enough.

Take care Alex and keep doing what you are doing and I will too. It is serving us both well emotionally and financially.

Feb.

Best wishes to everyone for the new year ahead. No matter how hard an obstacle your gambling problem might seem to be overcome, it can be. We can get through the hard days and move on in life.

Not gonna be posting too much from now on (I've said that many times though, I know), I have other challenges to face head on. In a sense, these are far greater than the odd urge to gamble and I need to tackle these urgently. What it is, is that gambling (as well as some other things) kinda messed everything up. I had a work routine ruined, had to move home etc. But anyway, my aim for the next year is to be back to where I was before. It'll be hard, but I need to, as if not, I'll be broke. I've had many challenges like this before and can overcome this. And to this, I can say I will only try my best.

Again, best wishes to everyone for the year ahead. Hope it fairs well for you all.

Thanks again for the support this year.

-Alex

Still doing well. Haven't thought about gambling at all since my most recent slip in December. The urge just isn't there anymore, which is great. I slipped twice in a year and both times were nothing too major. This year I aim to have a slip free time of it.

Truth be told, the only thoughts of gambling I have these days are those thoughts mainly of regret, for getting so caught up and never believing it really happened to me, but it did. I still often think back to April 2011, when I started the chain of addiction on £10 and mainly games of what were penny poker. Little did I know how much that would escalate by, but oh well.. Life throws some cr** at you from time to time and you just have to deal with it best you can.

I still feel after-effect of my gambling days, but this is less and less now. The future is definitely a lot more brighter right now.

A day at a time.

Hey Alex

Lovely to hear from you and to know that you are still remaining gamble free and doing really well still.

The future will definitely remain brighter the further you remove yourself from your gambling past.

Good luck for the rest of this year and take care.
