Hi wp,

sorry to read you don't like posting much any more. I find it gets boring when I haven't gambled for ages though.

I just wanted to say that I genuinely admire how you have tackled loads of tough stuff without going back to gambling. You are a dude!

Take care,

f x

Winningpost,

How are you doing these days? Seems from your last post (and recent ones before that) that you are strong in your recovery. I guess after a year of being gamble free, that not gambling is becoming normality. Keep up the great work.

I'm doing great too. Perhaps 'great' is a little exaggeration but not finding being gamble free overly difficult. Money is very tight and particularly after another tough budget in January (I think the Irish governments budgets are infamous internationally). The family are grand and despite nearly murdering eachother every now and then, we are doing well. The money I have to pay on loan repayments feels even more sore these days but that's in the past.

I started up a diary on another forum but being busy, I haven't spent anything like I used to spend here. I reckon the bright orange banner on the top means I have to be cuter about using it in work. Miss the forum and the characters on here but happy also that things move on and we have to open another chapter every now and then.

Best of strength to you,

Brian

Hey wp,

Cheers for your support on my diary, as you know every small step is still important, as long as it's a step in the right direction, and that's what I'm looking at at the moment.

I'll be trying my hardest to get that positivity back, give it a few hours and I'm sure I'll be on the up again, it just depends on my mood! 🙂

All the best mate, and well done for dealing with the problems in the right way, and not "gambling yourself into oblivion".

Ryan

wp,

Hey there. Great to hear you are doing well.

This week is tough and I've been hanging out on just about all the recovery forums available. Its my first Cheltenham and it's tough already. I miss the banter and the craic. Don't know how many people have been loitering around my desk talking about some of their big hopes for today. I want to take a half day and go to the boozer to watch the races, not to have a bet. I know that for me that would not be the right thing to do.

Its a matter of principle for us wp. We may not be able to avoid the festival talk but we have to remember how often its said that the 1st bet breaks down all the barriers.

Be strong and best wishes to you. We'll have earned a couple of pints by the time this week is over. It's a bank holiday (national drinking day) over here on Thursday too !! Ouch.

Hi wp, thank you for your very kind words on my diary. It's funny, I never intended to start a diary....I was just for some advice to the dilemma I had. It turns out that the dilemma of Vegas was the making of my recovery. I don't know about you but I found it hard today. My usually radio station was reporting live from Cheltenham....when I got to the hotel room it was the first thing that came on the tele. It just activates those old thought processes. We won't gamble though wp. We have come too far for that and life is a great deal better. Thanks again for all your support...you have been a virtual rock to me. WE CAN DO THIS! Russ

Hi wp.

Just coming on to say well done as ever on your gamble front.

Was going to send you a mail but i'm having problems with logging on to my e-mail address(since today).Rang the internett place we use, find out i owe them 40 quid for the use of e-mail through them....wasn't impressed.Didn't really understand it.Anyway to cut a long story short won't be able to logg in until next week sometime.Until i pay them that service is closed.

Intend to sort it out next week when i get paid myself!

Send you a mail when its up and going. All the best pal.

Viggo.

Hi wp,

Glad to hear that your staying focussed and coping with lifes problems without gambling. As you can see from my diary I am not as focussed as i use to be, that 1000+ days gamble free feels like a life time ago. Just goes to show that the gambling bug never dies completely. Anyways thanks for your support. All the best to you and your continued recovery.. S.A
