Hi wp.

Thanks for the post mate. I had both you and Russ in mind when i made a trip to the races the other night as i knew that you had both done this without folding.

It's great to see you continuing to rebuild your life.

Hey post,

Cheers for stopping by...but if you suggest I become a Swans fan I may well have to get angry! There's enough people at work already suggesting exactly that. Looking forward to going back to 9 to 5, and having to go to bed at a reasonable time should prevent the all night sessions that blight me when I gamble (when I used to gamble if I'm feeling confident).

Also looking forward to a change of scenery, and getting back to living in the countryside. City living is fine, but its a little alienating I find.

Cheers dude,

Ryan

with thanks to viggo Jeff curly Ryan and russ. .Well today marks 18 months since my last bet but im certainly not celebrating. You just have to look at our friend "getting there" to see how far we can go and then relapse. He may not know it, but diaries like that and there are a few on here that have gone many many months/years without a gamble and whoosh all the good work comes to an end as the demons strike, but they are inspirations to me as it reminds me i ve got to keep on my toes at all times. .it is still very much trying at times as there are days i still think about having that 1st bet but thanks to this diary i can read of others in difficult positions and it totally puts me off having a punt. .booked up for a family holiday in august for 1st time in years and maybes looking into moving back into family home so im certainly not going to ruin things and place that 1st bet. .I couldn t have got to Where im at today without the help of YOU my friends and for that im forever grateful.. The betting slip from my last bet still remains in my wallet and has now totally faded (hopefully like my gambling days) but still reminds me of them dark and depressive times. .Best wishes friends, Today i won t bet tomorrow i won t bet we can do this folks. . w.P last bet 14/12/09 🙂

wp,

great great post. If ever there was a post on this forum that shows what recovery can be, then that was it. Well done to you and what a recovery story yours is proving to be.

Always keep the eye on the ball.

Hi wp

Well done on 18 months without a bet. I do like your post a couple back. Just goes to show how complacency lets the demons back in. When i used to attend GA, people used to say that people who missed meetings were most likely to slip and i guess its the same with this forum. You have a great attitude to quitting and i really hope things work out with the family. All the best

Hi wp, thanks for post.

Dont take my comments to yourself. My references to preachers, those who criticise and cant see that there are other ways to deal with the problem were not directed at you.

You are supportive and come across as maybe just being frustrated with me a bit as you dont see me making progress. (but I am).

Hey wp,

You might not think too much of your 18 month milestone, but it sure looks sweet from here! I think you've earnt yourself a beer or two to celebrate....but I know well how it easy it is to throw it all away after months, so keeping on your toes is the smart thing to do.

Keep on towards that two years and don't let your guard down, and this time I know not to either.

All the best

Ryan

Hi

Thanks for the post, I will post tomorrow as it will be six months. The reason for me not posting is simply because I can't find anything new to write.

Famous last words but THIS NON GAMBLING IS BECOMMING RATHER TOO EASY. I just hope the above statement doesn't come and bite me in the A**.

Dearest wp,

So nice to get your message tonight. I had a wee chuckle as you seem to be something of an outlaw on the site these days! Posts getting edited here there and everywhere! What a shock that 'he who shall not be named' was banned from the site. I can't imagine him saying anything to upset anyone. How crazy! Please pass on my very best wishes as he was such a support to me on my journey.

You seem to be inspiring and advising very well and I am thrilled for you. Dont get me wrong I have slipped a little into the dark side but I am nowhere near where I once was and really I am erring on the side of caution by returning here. I NEVER want to end up where I once was.

The site seems somewhat empty at present and as you mentioned there are very few of the faces of our era around. I think we were lucky in that a good group arrived around the same time and we held each other together. I also stay in regular contact with Walktheline and he is a most excellent and honest support to me and is very well himself.

Thank you so much for welcoming me back and believe me I am and will continue to be 'on top of this'.

Warmest thoughts

Eyes X
