Hi Blocked,

Well done for dealing with those obstacles so strongly. It is hard enough to deal with recovery and all the urges and mood swings, without having the carrot dangled right in front of you.

On a positive note, it gave you a chance to realise how you can be strong, and you are committed to your recovery.

Hope you enjoy the beers - Cheers! 😉

Hi Blocked.

Cheers for the post my friend.

I'm glad you resisted the gambling urges when they hit you mate. I know you have put some barriers in place and no doubt this is helping.

What a mess we have made of our lives over the years with this stupid gambling lark eh mate!

We will beat this though Blocked of that i am sure.

Positive thoughts mate.

Bad night all round a very close relative 14 years old took an overdose last night. Stable in hospital but just so horrible. Then found out our beloved 14 year old daughter has been smoking and drinking. Everything kicked off at the same time.

Puts very much into perspective our lives. Feel very low about all this today and upset.

Really sorry to read that Blocked,i hope the youngster gets better soon and gets the help they clearly need.....,can relate to the stress with your own 14 year old daughter smoking and drinking, went through hell with my eldest daughter when she was at that age.....,they come through it all in the end,but it's a nightmare to deal with them at the time!!!,the only advice i would give is be firm but fair, and try not to be to harsh,i was at first and it made things worse, she is really just testing the bounderies and is (believe me) reacting to peer pressure as well

How sad -hope the youngster gets well. Must be heart wrenching for the family.

Smoking and drinking at 14. I remember it well. My mother read my diary once ( and it wasn't a recovery diary!) because she suspected me of drinking. I was so mad she read my diary, I didn't speak to her for a month. Put her through hell. I have since apologised of course and we are the best of friends and have been throughout my life. My own boys were a nightmare when teenagers, but as they became men they became such a joy. Riding the teenage wave is tough and as they begin to test the waters of life we parents can feel we have lost control. But when we love them, and give them sound guidance, they find their own way and come back to our sound teachings in the end. It's good you have a sense of humour, Blocked as it will help to get you through.

Thank you for your message to me. Your genuine concern is comforting.

Good thoughts

Lili

Got her onto report at school to check her progress lots of calls to teachers etc it happens we all done this kind of thing but still hard to swallow somtimes. Ah well back to work back to another week. Thanks for messages of support in my absence. Hope everyone else is doing good. Blocked.

Hi Blocked,

Sorry to hear about all this upset. I can relate to how it puts everything into perspective. Whenever anything awful happens in my life, I realise how stupid it was to actually CREATE distress with gambling. The unpredictable poo, that comes along in life is bad enough without us adding to it eh?

Take care,

f x
