Well that all got a bit odd! I believe the people posting on here are good people, they have all suffered one way or another through gambling and want and need to stop. Just as each and everyone one of us has a different trigger. different private life or different motivator, we also have different ways of dealing with it and alternative ways of trying to beat it. There is no right or wrong way, if purely by posting helps you, great, if it's support you need, great, if it's getting something off your chest, shout, if it's moving on because you feel you are doing ok by yourself, great do it, whatever you feel is helpful to you, do it. We're individuals only linked by our addiction, it's not one shoe fits all, just try and get what you can out of it and go with it your way.

Totally agree with the above but I'm sure I'll get tarred with with it being my" illogical ideology" or the other old chestnut of being " My addictive mind " just a thought ?

" Stand tall and be corrected " " It's about support " sounds like a visit to the podiatrist Paul ?

But glad we can agree on one thing at least , live and let live brother !

Prince Rogers Nelson you have had a profound effect on my life. Sign of the Times to me is still the most beautifully written album i have ever heard. I remember seeing you live in the late 80s, it lives with me to this day. Thanks

No need to be sad Dan, Sign of the Times is going through 'turn to face the change' with Bowie as they sing a trio with Sheana Easton. It's about appreciating what you've experienced.. just like recovery .

ps... he full filled his mission

I thought that recovery is about not gambling and straightening out the corrupted addict thinking, the ideal formula being something along the lines of keeping the triangle broken plus Twelve Steps/counselling etc.

Easy enough to say...

"The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently"

I like this qoute...acceptance of different people is in progress Š²Ā˜Ń”
....but need to accept myself first..

Hope all is good with ya, ..it is getting better with me...day at a time

Look after yourself

There is a huge difference between wanting to change & being willing to change. Almost everyone wants to change for the better. Very few are willing to take the steps necessary to create that change. A quote i was reminded of on reading some of the things written about me this weekend.
Im not going to defend myself, i dont feel the need.
If folk want to pretend they are bessie mates on here, sat on their phones constantly pressing the refresh button. Then maybe its time to take a look at themselves & try & develop less shallow connections in the real world.

Im going to try & respond later (not defend) to the accusations levelled towards me.

Agreed re willingness.

Willingness to sit with difficult emotions, or a lack thereof, is a key driver behind escapism/addiction

In ACT this is referred to as the willingness dial. The further you can turn your dial up the better as it allows you to move where you wanna go rather than seek short term comfort.

Best

Hi Dan,

Such a shame such a shame.
Dear Admin - a question - what century we're living in? Where has freedom of speach gone?

It's ok for some posters to directly stab others in the back for their opinions, it's ok for others threat to slash other's throats on here but somehow some constructive thoughts are edited from the posters who speaks from the heart! Why don't you delete my posts about abuse/ neglect and suicidal thoughts? Make me look as a puppet with fake smile plasted on this mug and nodding to all the bull*hit whats being said! Seems like all happy clappy is the only way forward on this forum, hiding behind that fake screen...pretending all is easy.

I am just very dissapointed. Some of the posters on here been around for years...yet...give it few months and backstabbers somes over full force...without second glance from you at their bull they type!

This place has become dangerous place. Since I'm sensitive...yes f*****g sensitive, i took many remarks on board and some of them i can still read & then maybe go and drink myself stupid or have a gamble because that's what my mind tells me to do! There is no support here anymore...just fake motionless masks....spreading s***t all over the place!

Dan...sorry for the waffle on your diary...not agreeing or disagreeing with your posts...am only accepting you as a human being who has empathy, own opinion (WE ARE ALL ENTITLED TO) desire to keep on the right track, honesty and never ending facts on this addiction. All i have is respect to you...and guess what - this will not be taken away by some nasty scorpions who took over this once to be honest place.

Will keep in touch..ramble over!

Admin....delete this if you like & find it offensive but please have a look around on other postees spreading poison left right and centre! Dissapointing is not a word!

Sandra - true to her word soul
