Good Morning World
11 weeks bet free yesterday!
It feels no time as the devils have been around too much lately.
This has been a rough period for me, found it easier at the start but also know because of the changes to my life that is the reason and i will not try and escape this time because i know it would destroy me and i'm NEVER going to let that happen!
Yesterday i had to go shopping for some new clothes as have lost weight due to the stresses, now i was never a big girl but could not get away with the baggy clothes any longer, was starting to look like i had borrowered them from someone else lol
The reason i mention this is because it's a week before payday and money is a bit tight so i thought.................
Have a little gamble then i could afford more lol
I then just LAUGHED to myself for even having this thought, i would have lost my money and then carried on looking very strange in these too big clothes.
It was only a brief thought but strange how you can go back to thinking gambling can solve all your problems even though you know it just causes more!
So today i have some new clothes which fit, have no urges, i'm feeling pretty d**n GOOD!
Busy busy weekend for me then a quieter couple of weeks until i struggle up Great Gable (my favourite mountain)
Today life appears GOOD
Ex has kept away for a couple of days so maybe he is starting to settle too!
Today
I will not gamble
I will smile
I will laugh
I will have clothes that fit lol
Keep Strong all and have a great bet free weekend
COYI, straight back to the premiership!
Smiling Lucy xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Well done on 11 weeks yesterday great achievement your laying firm foundations and it will get easier again so keep getting stuck in mate and keep smiling haha.
Gud luck with the hammers tomorrow have a good 1
Hi Lucy,
Thank you for your kind words on my diary. Ye I have a massive incentive to stop gambling. I wish it was as easy as flicking a switch off in me but unfortunately in reality it isn't this is my fourth day gamble free and I know it will be a rocky road but I am determined to stay on track like everyone on this site and together I think we can all beat this.
Very well done on 11 weeks gamble free and well done for today for staying strong. I had a similar thing I haven't got much money until pay day but I really need some new trainers so I can concentrate on my fitness I am just going to have too bite the bullet buy a cheaper pair of trainers and went till pay day not think that i can win some money to make it better because I would probably lose it all and have no money for the rest of the month. So thank you for putting that entry into your diary because it helped me out too.
Keep smiling Lucy and take care keep up the good work:)
All the best from Ricky

Good morning Lucy!
It' so funny but when I read your posts, they are so similar to me! I too went shopping for new clothes yesterday.. all ready for my new job on Monday! I too have very little money for extravagence and I too thought for a fleeting moment that I could win the money to pay for them!! Duhhhh!! Thankfully, it was only a fleeting moment and I too laughed at myself!
The great thing is that we both RESISTED! Laughed at those demons and ultimately told them to b*****r off!! How good does that feel, Lucy?!
We are fighting this battle and we are winning.. one day at a time!
Hope you have a brilliant weekend and that the Irons do the business for you! I will be looking out for the lady with the right fitting t-shirt and the HUGE smile on her face xxxxx
Lucy.
A belated big well done to you !!!!!
The"gable"will be more of a hillock to you now,you have scaled a huge mountain in your life and should be emmensly proud of your ongoing recovery and keep smiling keep stepping forward and most of all my dear gamcare friend "BELEIVE"

Hi Lucy, thanks for your post on my diary, and a massive congrats on your 11 weeks gamble free... way to go girl !!
Could do with doing some clothes shopping myself, but coz I was so long out of the habit of buying for myself I find it hard to spend on material things, but 'it will come', of that I am sure.
Have a great weekend and stay safe
Cameron

Hey Lucy,
Oh how you light up the day/night you have a way of writing which is easy on the eye and you always always seem enthusiastic with your posts even in times where the devils are nibbling your ear! It's an amazing quality!
Must say I smiled lots reading your post regarding clothes etc kinda drew up an image it was slightly hazy as I have no idea how you look but you catch my drift with the whole baggy clothes thing did make me chuckle! Good for you tho doing some shopping, feeling good and setting yourself up for a weekend of triumph (I cannot see the Hammers losing).
Keep Smiling
Keep Laughing
Keep this Lucy!!

Hi,
Good on ya. Being aware that the monkey on your back will always try to find a way to temp you, is half the battle. Cause if you know something is going to happen you are stronger to fight it off , if you see what I mean. Also acceptance that happens , dismiss it and move on. So many on recovery , beat themselves up because they had an urge it's all part and parcel of the process. It can only have a negative effect on us if we let it.
Gosh wrote more than I meant. Went right into one lol
Anyways have no doubt you look drop dead gorgeous in your new clothes, great big smile plastered on your face , and excitement in your heart for the footy tomorrow. Have a smashing day.
