Hi angie90,
Thanks for your post, and well done for sharing your gambling concerns with us. You sounded like you’ve been struggling with gambling problem for a while, and I would like to find out whether you’ve managed to put any strategies in place to help you abstain from gambling. Gambling problem gets worse if you don’t do anything about it, and it can easily get out of control.
Depending on the type of gambling you do, there are several strategies that you can apply to stop yourself from responding to the urge to gamble. You can install a blocking software to stop you from accessing gambling sites, and you can go for Self Exclusion from all the bookies in your local area with a single call to: 0800 294 2060.
Have you thought about contacting our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133 to find out about your options?
Gamcare can refer you to 12 sessions of free counselling if that would help you to overcome your gambling problem. Help and support is readily available here, thus there’s no need for you to struggle or suffer in isolation. It’s difficult to try and stop gambling problem by yourself.
Do try and stay in touch, and please keep posting!
Best wishes,
Beatrice
Hi angie hand over your finances. Go to a ga meeting. If you carry on you'll have nothing. You're young you've got 2 kiddies. If you stop you can have a good life. This road is just pain. It's the hardest addiction to beat.
Thanks everyone. Looking at going to counselling again. I did do several meetings but stopped as went into pre term labor, hence the reason for feeling so low and wanting to gamble.
I'm going to do this I am!
Day 2 today.. I feel really weird today. Tired, depressed, guilty. But also excited, excited for a future with my partner and children without gambling in it.
