Yo,

Plenty more of good days to come 🙂

Just a question of believing ,and from that belief a confidence that our futures are brighter if we just put the effort in.

Take care my friend ,

Shiny xx

Day 6.

You are spot on Shiny in that this recovery takes effort, which is something, if being honest with myself, I have not applied to my recovery this year. I accept that and need to focus more on the big picture. The big picture, of course, is long term abstinence and I need to get by some small obstacles in order to stay on that long, honest road.

I have just returned from a lovely big walk with my youngest in his pram. I sure do walk miles with that pram. Rain, hail or snow it doesn't bother me. The waterproof cover goes on the pram and I am content walking and thinking. Great for the head. Sometimes all we need is ten minutes of peace and nobody wanting anything from us just for that ten minutes our mood can be altered and the outcome of that day can be totally changed.

Day 7.

Glad we are organised for Xmas. The weather is terrible and I would hate to be at the shops just now. Instead, we are at home watching Toy Story with a tin of Quality Street.

Happy gambling free xmas with your live ones.you will come through this - don't even think of the deny A concentrate on one day a pt a time gamble free and the debt will slowly start to get paid back. This is what is hard for us as we all want a quick fix of a win to clear out debts but like ain't like that and it end up chasing your loses. Stick in and you will come through the other end of the rainbow

Day 9.

Merry Christmas everyone. Having a lovely morning. My oldest kid, who is four, is at such an amazing age for Christmas. He was so exited when he came downstairs to see that Santa had been. He has been playing with the one toy all morning. We could hardly get him to open any other presents. All he was interested in was his massive big train set. As for the other one, he would be happy playing with an empty box.

I badly want to wake up next Christmas morning with a very long term of gambling abstinence behind me. It is times like this when although I am happy I am also sad when I think of the money that I have wasted this year. I would usually always get the kids and my wife a few other surprises but couldn't afford it this year. Next year will be different.

I hope everyone enjoys their day. I go to a big family dinner with usual numbers between 14 and 18 people. It is mental and dinner seems to last hours and hours.

Tomso

You can still play football, you have a happy family, you have lots of mates, you go to a big family dinner at Christmas and you have just moved to a new house.

Everyone has there own issues and reasons for gambling but can I just say if I had your life I wouldn't have gambling problems, my life would be perfect.

Tomso,

Just wanted to drop in and say happy xmas. read your update and warmed my heart to picture such a content, loving family scenario. I know you have the strength and determination to overcome your gambling demons - and I have no doubt you'll do exactly that with a renewed vigour (and perhaps some different tactics - although I'll not labour that point I've made recently).

Just in response to Captain below (without wanting to hijack the thread); Captain, I think that's a little unfair. I take the point - that Tomso has many fantastic things in his life, for which he is obviously grateful. But these things are all relative... in turn, many would look at your position enviously - and crave the things you have. As per your post, this xmas day you have people with you; there is food on the table; there is a roof over your head etc. This is a time to do our best to be grateful for all that we do have.

Anyway, I wish both you guys a very happy christmas and good luck in the New Year. Have appreciated both your help on my diary

Day 10.

Potentially first class day set up for today.

Chocolate breakfast as part of a lazy morning. Playing with the kids toys and watching 101 dalmations.

Going to the football this afternoon. My team are facing a very good and inform side who are on a winning streak. My team haven't scored in a while. Should be good.

This evening I am meeting up with my friends for a few drinks in our local. Should be a cheap but very enjoyable night. My new house is within walking distance to the local pub we use to frequent regularly in our younger days. Bonus. No, they are not coming back to mine once the pub shuts. Mental note - remember that.

I should appreciate this day even more because my mother in law was trying to organise a shadow Christmas day dinner because we spent in with my family yesterday. Great escape.

Tomso

Fella a great couple of posts to read, god to see you find the humility to see what damage gambling caused you in the last year my friend.

To face up to our shortfalls is something to be proud of, for it be proud.

Don't lose the focus you have gifted yourself and without doubt 2014 will bring you more resolve.

Don't let anything detract you from that.

Duncs stepping forward never back.
