Hi folks,

Just a quick update, first internet access since before xmas and I aint missed it one bit (how times have changed when I had 10 accounts open!!!)

Had a great christmas, few ups and downs with the wife but thats what being couped up does - work isnt a bad thing...

Havent gambled a penny since my last entry, and really found it easier than i thought over xmas - snow probably helped but main thing is, 534pm tomorrow and it will be a MASSIVE 140 DAYS gamble free - i'm extremely proud of my achievement and cant believe how far i have come. I also know that after the casino incident jusr vefore xmas, i must stay away from all types of gambling. A few thoughts came by and went over xmas, mostly to do with football coupons, but i mad sure i took the kids with me whenever i went out and as ive said before, i wouldnt take them into a bookies.

Have to give my daughters laptop back now!!! Will update when im back in work (hols to use up!!)

I HOPE EVERYONE ON HERE MANAGED A GAMBLE FREE DAY TODAY AND HAD A WONDERFUL XMAS AND NEW YEAR

Take Care

Blues

140 days, WOW! Well done!

Thought you weren't allowed to take kids into a bookies anyway?! Wouldn't it be awful if the rules were relaxed to allow this? If they were, I will certainly have something to say about this.

Staying away from all types of gambling, no matter how small is a very important step to being totally gamble free.

Blues,

Good to hear from you and even more so that the Christmas and New Year has helped to provide additional clarity to the whole gambling recovery story.

You are right about staying away from gambling circles. I find that it just gets the subject into my conscious and unconscious mind and that supports the generation of urges. Something that I do not care for. It's all about recognising that we are compulsive gamblers and that we cannot get ourselves into those environments. I don't think that is an excessive weight to be carrying around with us either, just a matter of fact.

Well done on the continued recovery.

No urges today and it seems that going the shop WITHOUT a bet is normal now as 99% of people do!!

Celebrated the 20 week mark with a nice few beers and hope to catch up with my friends diaries in the next day or two

Well, back to full interent access and pleased to say, no bet since 19th August 2010.

Strange thing has been happening lately, I am having consistent dreams about gambling, which shows that it is very much in my subconcious mind and must continue to be on guard.

Must admit, its great to be able to live relatively normal life again (apart from the massive debt mountain) and not a life dominated by ducking, diving and generally so preoccupied that I didnt give two monkeys about anything else!.

I would like to end this entry by thanking all the people who have took time to post on my diary over the last 144 days, it has made me fight this battle with all my willpower and if I can offer half the support to you, I will be happy.

Take Care

hi blues,

thanks for your post and support my friend.

great to see you clocking up more and more gamble free days, and that "normality" is back in your life.

I still have the gambling nightmares now and again - always the same thing - i have decided to gamble again, and am trying to find ways to hide it from everyone, winning lots of money, hiding it in weird places, etc.

then the relief and joy that i was only dreaming is immense.

You mentioned on my diary, about being greateful for what we have - if you get the chance listen to the ralph mctell song, streets of london on you tube - it backs up quite nicely the point you were making.
