Afternoon all,
After working bank holiday Monday I've been off yesterday and today, although I am waiting for the dreaded call from the garage to come collect my car and pay for my MOT. Always the scariest day of the year!
Was able to head up north to see my brother and sister yesterday, and went for a lovely long lunch at Carluccio's. It may be the restaurant of a celebrity chef, but it was definitely good enough for me, and their dessert portions were huge! I would never have wasted a day with the family when I was gambling, but now I know which days were truly wasted!
Day 249 since I last gambled, and its a tough journey, but today is one of my good days. And it is getting to the tipping point where the good days and bad days are starting to see the weight tipping on the good day side. I know its a long journey, and there will be hurdles and obstacles to come, but for now I'm just enjoying this good day.
All the best
Ryan
It's been a decent few days, had Saturday night off and put a few quid towards the Froch v Groves PPV. Had a few drinks with some good company, and ended up having a tidy hangover to take with me to work on Monday.
Going to be real busy over the next fortnight, there is plenty of overtime going at work, and I'm edging closer to that magical day when I will go from being in debt to no longer having any debt, and frankly I'm thinking I may as well hit that point at a sprint rather than at a slow walk. My MOT also came back with not a single repair required, so its all good at the moment!
Hope everyone's having a decent week.
Ryan
Hey Ryan,
Thanx for your kind words on my tread. Yep, all is good with me and I am more than happy seeing you reaching your goals 🙂 way to go my friend and really hope we will catch up soon
Be proud and keep taking it day at a time
Well done

Evening,
Been a long week at work so far, and there's no signs of it ending anytime soon....due to overtime I'm in at some end every day until next Friday. 8 days to go until I get a whole weekend off.
I have however been careful to make sure there is no overtime booked during World Cup games, so it isn't all work, or at least it won't be once the games start. Hope everyone's doing well, for me it is now 257 days since my last bet. Life isn't perfect, but its a whole lot better than the abyss I was staring into back then.
All the best
Ryan
Hi Ryan
Sounds tough at work I always find it has positives with keeping the mind busy but to be careful not to overdo it as the stress and pressure can build even though its hard try and find time to switch off from it
With the World Cup I can't wait really looking forward to it going to try and watch as much as possible , so enjoy that weekend off and enjoy the football , lets hope England can get something against Italy or its going to be tough to get to of that group
Enjoy !!!!

Leedso,
Delighted to read that you have went 257 days gambling free that is amazing. Keep up the good work. On a plus point your finances won't be hit too badly without overtime during the World Cup as your team will be booking their return flight home after only the second game (tongue in cheek).

(Not English)
Hi Ryan... and glad to see that all is good in your world and great stuff on the gamble free time. Those days are sure mounting up. Regards... S.A 🙂
Thanks Tomso...Fortunately being a Welshman means I can simply enjoy the feast of football to come without being too concerned about whether or not England get knocked out. I hate to say it, but I don't think they'll make it out of the group stages either, unless the kids can really step it up from the friendly performances.
Sunday going nicely, nice glass of Magners on ice and the Grand Prix on the TV. Things could be a lot worse, thoughts with those who are struggling at the moment.
Ryan
Morning Ryan
Magners , Grand Prix no stress there and you have earned it by making the right choices
Welshman heh knew Tomso was a Scotsman could get ganged up on here lol , prob both of you right with your views but you never know ( the eternal English optimist before the tournament starts )
Like you say though you can just sit back and enjoy

Well thanks for the reply and yeah guess I'm down quite often when it comes to gambling but never out. Congrats on your free time and you'll be hitting that year mark in no time.
Well, the World Cup is upon us, and while I know some who still have those gambling urges will find this to be a tough time, for me, its all about the football!
I feel the overwhelming optimism that comes with loving the game, and I can't wait to see how things pan out. It'd be nice to see England do alright, but I think I'd really like to see Brazil come through and win. It's not been without controversy, but seeing Brazil win in the spiritual home of football would be amazing.
All the best guys

Ryan
fella thanks for popping by my thread, yes the world cup is upon us indeed.
For me it will hopefully be a celebration of the best football has to offer, nothing more nothing less.
The outcome of each game will I know not effect the outcome of my own life, the fact that we get to watch games for the next three weeks or so each day will just offer a source of pleasure.
Gambling for the first time in my adult life won't steal that enjoyment, because I have a education, the same one you gift yourself fella.
I hope you keep making the right choice my friend
abstain and maintain
Duncs stepping forward never back
Hi Ryan,
Great to see you in high spirits and you are so right, football is a game which can be enjoyable for what it is. (Not if I'm football fan lol) but have a friend which is crazy about it and can shout at the screen if any players been treated unfairly or game is boring lol..she even shouts on player to get back up if they fall lol lol..sort of "get back up you lazy b..... nothing wrong wiv u, u will be alright" lol
Anyway, off the record here, really happy for you and proud to fight shoulder in shoulder in this battle of freedom.
Keep up the good work and enjoy your day. Thank you so much on your ongoing support. Most appreciated

hi Ryan
thanks for the post and continued support
enjoy the world cup it looks likes its going to be a good one judging by last nights game thought Brazil were very fortunate but its things like that the excitement for us and not have to be sweating on a dodgy penalty to recoup our losses
castle2
Enjoy the football mate. Mexico should of won that 3-0 the referees are a bit sh*tty to be honest hope they dont have bng impact on the England games changing an outcome etc which dodgy penalties or offside BS.
